Is it overrated? Or is it just a bad year for RB's?

No I think taking the first 5 RBs first was still the correct call. They've just had freak situations. Injuries, domestic violence(when the frick has this happened this much - not normal) or an extremely tough schedule in Lacy's case. Hindsight is 20/20 but I still think it was the right decision and won't laugh at anybody for it.

This isn't the same thing as taking Martin, Spiller and TRich in the first a couple years ago. All the guys taken were elite talents who had proven themselves more than one season (besides Lacy)

I picked AP at 5th overall. Megatron and Forte, Charles, McCoy were gone.

I think the days of taking RBs in the first rounds is over. They just don't score as much as they used. All you need now is one good one. and then 3 stud WRs

This has been my motto for 5 years and why I hate having early draft picks.

And going RB zero is any better?

What if you went Dez/DT as first two picks? Dez sucked week 1, DT has sucked 2 of first 3 weeks.

I went Mega/AJ Green/A. Brown with my first 3 picks in a 10 team standard. It's worked out nicely so far.

I haven't gone first round RB in two years. I made the playoffs in 3 of 4 leagues last year and made it to the ship in 2 out of 4.

They get injured more often that WR's and QB's.

You can't fart around a QB or WR without getting a penalty.

To me most RB's are simply products of the offensive line.

I'm a waiver wire bandit though.

I guess it comes down to the draft order. Picking later might be more beneficial. Look at Murray, Jennings, and Bernard.

no doubt, but you're playing with lotto tickets with RBs

I use this example every time, but last year I had Calvin, Dez, Jordy, Gordon, Allen as my top WRs and didn't even make the playoffs. I drafted 6 RBs and they either got hurt or never panned out.

This year is much friendlier to zero RBs due to all the shite that went down, but you can't predict that in the preseason. Theoretically, you could have went WR/WR/WR/TE/QB with first 5 picks and be starting some solid waiver wire combination of Bradshaw/West/D. Brown/etc.

yep. Plus one can argue there's a ton of WR depth. In a few leagues I grabbed Maclin, Edelman, Crabtree in mid rounds and guys like Hawkins/Hopkins late

This. Running back by committee, playing hot hands and playing matchups, has worked out really well for me so far this year. The team where I went strong on RB (Matt Forte and Montee Ball), I've struggled.

Glad I had the 8th pick in a 10 man. I took Megatron. AP and Eddy Lacy were there. My league went on a QB frenzy in the first round. Rodgers, Brees, and Manning all gone in the first.

I'm in two PPR leagues and I drafted opposite in each one. It wasn't my plan, but it's just how it panned out.

In the first one I went: Megatron, AJ Green, R Bush

Second one I went: Charles, Lacy, Gio(I know, ridiculous)

So far I'm 3-0 in both so I guess we'll see how it looks after a whole season

Mine invariably get injured.
Fantasy, at least in my leagues, are won in rounds 3-6 and on the waiver wire.

Meh.

This year has been an unusual situation. Charles was the top PPR FLEX scorer last year and wrecked people that didn't have him in week 15. Forte was #2 FLEX, Shady #3 FLEX. All above any WR. At a position that is harder to fill due to depth.

my draft strategy(12 team league, 1ppr) was to take either charles, mccoy or forte in the first round if available, but if not, stock up on receivers in the first 3-4 rounds. reason being a. the top 3 backs are head and shoulders better than the rest, whereas there is a ton of depth at WR and b. its easier to hit the waiver wire for RB's since there are so many injuries at that position. Also, with RBBC you can just pick up a passing down back that gets 4-5 dumpoffs per game and they can have a serviceable day. Justin forsett the past 2 weeks has provided the ravens with probably no real value, but in ppr fantasy he has averaged about 11 points.

I had pick #4 in a 14 team league and once Charles and AP went with the first two picks, they all went batshit and started picking RB's so I got Manning, AJ Green and Jordy Nelson with my first 3 picks.

I'm undefeated and Charles and AP aren't playing and McCoy is doing jack shite.

Taking RB's in the 1st round is overrated.
