Louisiana has been shut out.

I don't have a problem with that list.

I can't argue with it. PNW oysters are a good bit better than from the gulf IMO, and that place in San Leon is great

I think the food at Gilhooley is pretty meh. For gulf oysters I could pick a dozen other places that are better. And I usually find TX oysters to be better than LA. However the dive bar atmosphere of the place is right up my alley.

Just opinion, but a Gulf oyster, January through March, taste better than most any other oyster I've had, PNW, Atlantic or Nova Scotia. Maybe I haven't had the others at their peak.

This statement is why your posts are discounted and you have no credibility. I've eaten oysters all over this country and in Europe. There are great ones everywhere and some are distinct, different and all are delicious. Louisiana gulf oysters stand right up there with any of them.

I would broaden this to say Gulf Coast oysters. I have found that many oysters in the PNW and the NE don't taste as good as gulf oysters. Many of them have an "iodine" flavor to them that I don't like...

I've never had a PNW oyster with an appealing texture or flavor. Maybe just the wrong time of year.

PNW

There is such a hardon for the PNW these days that I am skeptical about opinions about it.

Odd. You can count me as a native louisianian who thinks the PNW and NE has, overall better tasting oysters. To me, they generally have a lighter, more briny taste that I like. Gulf oysters taste heavier, warmer, and more earthy. That's my opinion.

Agreed. If you've never had oysters out of San Antonio bay you are missing out

Please just shut the frick up.

I love all oysters but the best I've had were picked off a crab trap hanging of the dock of Motorboat's Dulac marsh camp. Shucked em with a screwdriver because we were unprepared.

I haven't been to any great "oyster bars" in Louisiana, so I can't argue with the list. I've been to restaurants in Seattle and Vancouver where they had 20+ different oysters to choose from, and was disappointed by the oysters the server recommended (compared to Gulf oysters). Gulf oysters are my favorite by far, but for the most part I'm not eating them in "oyster bars". I have a guy in Grand Isle that gets me some fantastic oysters, typically right after a big cold front. I've also bought sacks of wine oysters from Collins in Golden Meadow that were out of this world. IMO, Louisiana may not have great oyster bars, but I think Louisiana puts out some oysters that are as good or better than any others.

I've been on an Island Creek kick lately.

...and I can't argue with the list either because she's discussing the "bars", not the quality of oysters from each area. Although I've enjoyed quite a few oysters at Felix's, I wouldn't put it up there with the other establishments listed.
