O Line Play tomfoolery

No O Line plays well against 8-9 in box. Can we emphasize that again? Enough with O Line play hasn't been great this year commentary. Teams in box bad, teams out of box good.

If we keep repeating this over and over, maybe it will become true.
What you are also missing is that when they have 8-9 in the box, we also have 9-10 offensive players on the line or in the backfield, which is plenty of players to block with. I'm not ready to give up on our Oline, but they have yet to really play well either.

So, let me get this straight ....
1) No O Line plays well against 8-9 in box.
2) Teams in box bad.
So what does that mean when you still line up in jumbo formation and run up the middle in those situations?
An occasional audible would be nice, just sayin'.

The problem is our formations. Too much congestion when we have a fullback and one wideout. The other team will essentially have 10 in the box

perhaps it just should be condensed to say our OL is not opening any holes for our RB's. the other teams front 7 is hitting our RB's at the line of scrimmage and our QB has no time to make progressions because an opposing player is in his face right after the snap.
we don't know who's at fault but pretty sure someone on our team is not blocking these guys.

So the fullback and running back block on those plays also? What happens when the running back gets the ball? He blocking for himself also?
I guess the QB blocks too, right?

And yet we continue to try and run the ball 75% of the game. This is what frustrates me about Miles!

It just depends on how aggressive they are blocking and the play at hand. Go watch the Auburn game last year on Hill's long runs against loaded boxes. It's also notable that Fanaika is not up to speed. Most of the running plays called have been to the right, just wait until they start running off the left tackle.

One thing I noticed is that the oline rarely gets pushed into the backfield, but they also rarely push DL into the second level. I think this has a lot to do with the size of our guards. They're huge and are great for holding their ground, but they can't get their pad level low enough to destroy DL off the ball on a consistent basis. That's why I'm really excited about Brumfield and Clapp. They're both plenty big, but they still have great pad level.

Dude, this is a league game, this determines who enters the next round robin. Am I wrong? Am I wrong?

yea it is hard to block when 8 or 9 guys are in the box and our tightends can't do a damn thing and our full back is useless. The problem has been on the play calling end. The power sets aren't working at all, we dominate when we go 3 wide and force a nickel.
