In his 'defense,' Steph had picked up his 3rd foul and Harden had 2 at that point.

I know Harden can be a shitty defender, but that was a smart play. He already had 2 fouls in the first quarter and was avoiding a third. We were already having quite the foul trouble as a team with the horrible officiating.

And we needed Harden to blow this open in the third.

He's the Cowboys Defensive Coordinator. Explains a lot.

I don't think being in terrible position and getting blown by to the basket was a smart play dude

I'm not defending his defense, but would you rather give up one basket or have 2 of your best scorers with 3 fouls that early?

Players get beat sometimes. Happens to the best of them. At this point, everyone cherry picks his worst defensive play each game. If that's the worst one they can find, not bad.

I could find clips of just about any player getting beat like that.

Bottom line. Harden put up 16 in the second half to lead his team back. Both Coach K and Harden understand his role.

Were you watching the game? Serious question.

No way he was. Every US player was afraid to defend at that point. But an idiot poster won't let facts get in the way.

You need to really cherry pick to find absurdly bad defense by most players. With Harden, it's basically a nightly occurrence

Harden's a terrible defender but he had 2 fouls, and probably felt that if he made any attempt to play defense they would call a foul on him, which i believe as well.
That bad defense is on Coach K. Should have taken him out the game before that b/c it was obvious he wasn't picking up a 3rd foul.

Harden definitely can improve defensively, but the guy has become underrated because so many people hate on him.

Coach K and Kevin Durant are both big Harden fans. That speaks volumes.

No shite. 1st team NBA is like a damn slap in the face.

Rodney Dangerfield levels of disrespect there.

The daily Harden hate threads should be automatically moved to Pelicans talk IMO

Agreed. They're stuck with Eric fricking Gordon.

the OP is far from a Pelicans fan. I think Harden had a great 3rd quarter and is very important to team USAs success. After this weekend, I will hate him though.

Harden's one of the best players in the game. If he gave a frick on D, he wouldn't get ragged on like this.
