Ok so I have a birthday coming up and I already have a Weber Genesis. Should I get a Weber Kettle to compliment it or should I get a smoker?

Weber Kettle, then get the Smokenator insert for it.

And if I were buying again, I'd get the Performer just to have a table and space to store stuff.

ETA: Smokenator info

Personally I would get a kamado style cooker.....I'm personally partial to the Big Green Egg

The Kamado Joe, Primo etc are all good & very versatile

BIL who lived with me for awhile had a BGE. It was decent but overpriced for what I got out of it IMO.

You already have a grill. You do not have a smoker. I would recommend kamado style also to allow you to smoke with a constant temp and grill over charcoal, but to each their own. If you are against a kamado style, I would get a vertical smoker.

I love my 22.5" kettle and think it's the best all-around cooker for the price. I do long smokes. I do quick high heat. I do pizzas. It can really handle everything you throw at it.

Can you do a pizza on a WSM? I guess you can't on a regular smoker either so I think the smoker is out then...

I'm telling you, kettle with a smokenator will give you all the versatility you will ever need.

If you're serious about pizza, check out te kettle pizza add on for the weber kettle. I can get mine over 700 degrees. It's awesome.

I won't say I'm good at cooking pizza on it, but here is a recent thread I did on it. Still some learning to do. LINK

I have a genesis and an egg (was a gift). I like both. I haven't used a kettle so I can't comment on ease of use. If my egg ever got broken, stolen, etc, I'd replace it with a smoker. I assume your talking about the stand-up box type.
