Came into shop today for some repair work. Momma asked what the pole was for. I told her "to support the ceiling"

You'd think it would at least get the chrome package.

Pole is probably safety hand hold, but is just as useful for other purposes.

That's no lie. I rented a class C camper last summer. Ford carriage with a v10 pulling my daughter's jeep. Went to Utah and back. $2k in gas.

I am probably heading to Houston in a few hours to look at one, but:

GMC/Chevy 1500HD or 2500HD
6.0
4wd
SLT or LT
6.5ft bed
Extended or CC
Darker color

I'm guessing since you posted 1500HD that you are looking at the "classic" body style 2001-2007?

2007.5 up is the newer body style...

Good luck..It was a happy day at my house when I saw my 6.0h drive off with somebody else in it.
I have a 2500HD now with the 6.0 and no complaints at all.

Yeah, pretty much 04-07 Classic
Hard to find ones priced correctly with under 130k. Easy to find one priced correctly with over 200k

Very good choice if you want a reliable truck but don't mind a plain interior. IMO, the GMC models from that generation looked a little better than the Chevy.

Check the service history before you buy. Make sure it wasn't in a collision, flooded, or spent too many winters north of I-40. Make sure the previous owner kept up with oil changes, transmission flushes, etc.

This one in Houston was a manager's at some Chevy dealership up there, and only 102k miles, so I'm not too worried about the service history. Only standard stuff that I am expecting goes wrong between 100 and 150k. Since it is older, parts are cheap and it is still very easy to work on.

Just grabbed my envelope full of cash and am westbound. Probably gonna buy it today, drive back to New Orleans in the Infiniti, and fly there tomorrow to pick it up.

Oh yeah, it also has the typical GM cracked driver's seat and missing tailgate handle shroud At least it isn't a hunk of shite Ford though. Hopefully will update with pics later if everything checks out
