I was out off the end of lake road in Lacombe last weekend and they had a guy catching black tips regularly and he said he been for a few years since the lake started freshening up a lot. PPT last week was 3.

Said he's also caught bulls out there. It was pretty wild though watching this old dude. Fished with cut mullet and he obviously had watched some shark weeks cause he grabbed it by the tail pulled it out the rocks and flipped it on its back and that bitch went to sleep while he yanked the hook out. Pretty cool stuff. Freaky though since I've lived over here for that long and been in the Tchefuncte regularly hanging at the beach and didn't realize how many of these were in the lake.

Bull shark. Glad the kid only got it on the foot and no main arteries hit.

That is the third one I am aware of....
The other two predate hurricane Betsy

Laughing at the idiots that think a gar could do that

Before Katrina there used to be a couple of guys that used to fish sharks along Breakwater Dr. I saw them once early on a Sunday morning when I was biking. They were pulling in something big as I rode past and I stopped to see what they hooked. It was a big Jack, but they told me they were fishing for sharks, and went out there pretty regular. They had heavy surf rods, and I asked what they used as bait. Guy opened an icechest and showed big pogies, big 4-5 inch pogies.

As a kid growing up on the lake. We used to fish for them all the time down at Seabrook.

I catch black tips regularly near the twin spans. Caught one just under five feet last year. They're fun to fight on light tackle.

I remember the pic of that huge shark that was supposedly caught at the beach at the mouth of the Tchefuncte where everybody swims.

Not surprised at all.

Fishing around the twinspans about three years ago. Minnows under a popping cork you couldn't keep a bait away from a blacktip. Everywhere we went that day the sharks were thick.
