If you like okra, you may find this interesting.

edenprescription.com

"A newly discovered lectin in common okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) was shown to kill up to 72% of human breast cancer cells (MCF7) in vitro ... the lectin is found in the okra seeds"

"men eating okra as part of a Southern eating pattern experienced 40% less prostate cancer."

"it potently inhibits highly metastatic mouse melanoma cells and kills human breast cancer cells outright,"

"the pectin (found just under the okra skin and unique to okra) inhibited the proliferation of highly metastatic mouse melanoma cells (B16F10) by 75%"

Silly proposition. Of course okra is good for you. And if in gumbo, I'm sure the benefits are 10 fold.

You are ignorant of proper seasoning. For your kind, I run the okra through the FP. It can't be seen, so it's goodness is released into the dish without undue uneducated prejudice.

So you are old as dirt. I thought so.

And you've lost your taste buds by now, GG. You're palate is ruled by memory and food texture (code for softness)

I love roasted veggies and roasted okra for the first time this summer with some fresh picked purple okra. It was awesome. Got somewhat crispy. We ate it with cocktails before Sunday night supper. Now, it's a staple.

Ignore Otis. He's old and his limited sanity starts fading at night. Sundowners and all.

I thought roasted chickpeas would be another fun cocktail treat, but I didn't like them at all.

My parents just gave me a huge sack of okra from their garden.

Will probably grill or roast some, and use the rest for a big pot of okra and tomatoes. Adding Campbell's tomato juice and some Better than Bullion chicken stock makes it extra good.

I like to boil it with crab boil or toss it in a crock pot with a roast, potatoes, carrots, onions, and broccoli.

Hell naw Gee, I love it. It's one of my favorite things to eat this time of year. I don't even have to have anything to go with it. Throw some Andouille or shrimp in in and you've got a meal. I submit proof

A batch with some shrimp in it over rice is hard to beat

Another batch sans the Andouille with just a little bacon.
