It also depends on the definition of "vacation"

Bush going to his ranch(that still had an office there so he could do presidential work) counts as vacation

I think the complaints have more to do with the extravagant nature and costs of Obama's vacations rather than length or time

don't really care. Obama is horrible for this country I rather him take 365 days of vacation every year than work.

Obama's results explicitly show he's been on vacation since leaving the Senate.

I think the "after 31 months" refers to the time between 31 months and when they finished their presidency. Of course Obama is still in office. Clinton showed up a lot, but if I got free BJ's for coming into work I wouldn't telecommute as much either.

Personally I don't think our President should be punching a time card. They are on call 24/7. If they could manage the country through proper delegation for a few hours of work a week I would have no problem with it.

Which is bogus. He has ties to Hawaii, and I wouldn't begrudge any president vacationing there ties or not... All of the costs are for the Secret Service which is a captured cost and would be money spent regardless of the location and likely whether the President was on vacation or not.

Bush and Reagan each owned farms/ranches where the worked from on a regular basis, which technically was considered vacation. Obama and Clinton didn't/don't own another "place" to go to.

Every time Obama goes on vacation we hear about the cost of renting a place for the secret service on Martha's vineyard.

Exactly. Obama going to Vegas, giving a speech, and attending a booze-filled fundraiser is somehow considered "work"

Didn't Bush simply work from his ranch? Why are those days counted as a vacation?

Isn't that a bit disingenuous?

And I call BS on that graph. No way Clinton only had 7 days of vacation in 19 months.

I contend that the person who made that picture is highly partisan and chose to judge the presidents he/she supported by a different metric than those he/she didn't support.

I don't know. The President of the fricking US can do work while on "vacation". I'm guessing this complaining didn't start with Obama though

For the amount of money taxpayers spend paying, protecting, housing, transporting, and amusing the President, he absolutely better be working at least 40 hours per week while still being on call 24/7. Fund raising hours shouldn't count.

I think that if its leaked or word gets around that your one of the hardiest working Presidents in history time off is less of a big deal.

But if the opposite stories get out that your more detached and not putting in the hard hours required of your job then any time off gets more attention.

This maybe the case for BHO.

Pretty sure all Presidents can work from anywhere. It's 2014. No more Pony Express.
