we are doing a chartered fishing trip for work and the place we are using uses these two restaurants to cook our fish

Old Coffee Pot Restaurant
714 St. Peter St.
504-524-3500

Oceana Grill
739 Conti St.
504-525-6002

which one would be best for a group of 9 guys who love to drink and have a good time. don't need anything fancy

Well both of those places suck. But I guess if they are just cooking your fish for you, it really doesn't matter that much.

prayers sent

I've never been to the Old Coffee Pot, but I would never recommend Oceana.

I was hoping at least one would have been Finn's.

I'd just take the fish home. Would't want it to cross the kitchen threshold in either of those two places.

Im looking at Old Coffee pot's menu, and they have exactly 1 fish dish on their whole menu, a blackened red fish, which just about everyone does.

re; oceana grill, search their kitchen nightmare episode.

i guess if i had to choose 1, oceana is the better atmosphere. See if they can seat your party upstairs

Is this dinner included in the price of your chartered trip?

I don't know the answer to this question, but with regard to your other thread, I know you don't want to go to Mr B's since you think they give you 4 shrimp for 30 bucks, which isn't true.

You can eat at Peche for the price range you mentioned in the other thread. It can be very economical. Even the most expensive items feed more than one person. There are some items "for the table".

Remoulade, the casual side of Arnaud's, is in your price range with a large menu.

I've been to Old Coffee Pot and it's actually not that bad. Got dragged there by my uncle against my will, but left singing a different tune. Not a top 20 restaurant in the city or anything, but the gumbo was damn solid as was the etouffee. I'd certainly choose it over the pile of shite that is Oceana Grill.

ETA: wait, are we helping him decide between these 2 or offering up other suggestions?

Well shite. I'm going to email and see if she has any other recs

Also what other places would do that for us? If the price isn't that much different then I would rather pay a little more vs eating in a shithole

I bet Brigtsen's would do it for you.

Also maybe call Kingfish and see if they're game to cook y'all's catch for you.

Coffee Pot isn't horrible, but I've never thought about the place cooking fish.

I'll cook it for $50 (eta, hell, I'd probably just do it on the condition that I can keep a couple of packs of the fish for myself ) and I guarantee it will be better than anything they would do.

I like the Coffee Pot. Grillades and grits are on point like a decimal.

They both kinda suck (by NOLA standards), but Oceana Grill does some pretty good chargrilled oysters.

Not sure how well you know the city, but I would buy a small cheap weber and an ice chest full of nola beer and wine, and cook at Audubon park or the fly. Yes I would go through all that trouble over having my fish cooked at either of those places

you don't understand

we are all flying in the day before and flying out that night so grilling out wont be an option.

we are all doing the trip from 5am-1pm and cooking it afterwards and then flying out that night so unless we all ship it home via UPS or FEDEX than we have to cook it all or leave it.

bottom line- we are going somewhere to have it cooked for us.

That's probably the best thing to do. Or box it up in your own ice chest and check it with your luggage.
