I've wanted to try Company Burger for a really long time, and finally made it over. I wish I could say that it lived up to the hype, but it just didn't.

I had a company burger, onion rings, and a cocktail, and my total was $23...so pretty expensive...AND they charge 50 cents to add tomato! WTH?

I think I could deal with the price if the burger was good, but it wasn't. The bun was slightly chewy like it been sitting under a heat lamp.

The onion rings were VERY good, and I also really liked the different mayos offered.

For my cocktail I ordered a Violet Smash. It wasn't good at all.

There's some great burgers in New Orleans, so I don't see myself ever going back to Company Burger.

My friend had the exact same sentiments. Neither one of us could figure out the love for this place.

You'll get some shite for this review but I agree with you 100%. They started out so strong but I think the owners are extended themselves too much. The big bald dude apparently thinks he's a local celebrity now.

Yup, it got out of control when double stacks started costing more than 99 cents.

You drink a cocktail with a greasy arse burger?

Dear God.

I like Company but it's in my 2nd tier.

- top grade meat
- fresh buns daily(never had a bad bun there)
- hand cut fries & onion rings
-make their own pickles
-make their own mayo

looks like she had an average meal, but it's a great place.

Nice little review. I'm sure some will take it to heart, but for me we couldn't be more opposite in what we enjoy from a cheeseburger joint.

Part of their whole schtick is that they don't put lettuce or tomato on their burgers.

But it wasn't under a heat lamp. I love their buns .. they have a nice sheen to them and great texture. Not dry at all.

Yeah people go crazy over the mayo bar. Myself, I've never bothered to try it out. Mayo doesn't go on my burgers and I'd rather dunk rings or fries in ketchup.

Drinking a cocktail with a burger isn't for me in the first place; and I wouldn't go to a cheeseburger joint expecting something out of this world.

It is expensive. Go to cowbell next time. It's fantastic and a good bang for your buck. $23 is crazy. I also don't understand these "cocktail programs" burger joints are trying to sell people on. Provide a good draft and bottle selection and that's all you need. It's a burger restaurant.

A new sports bar in Cahaba Heights (Birmingham)charges $1 extra for cheese on their $10 burger and $2 for bacon. The cheese price is okay, I guess, but $2 for 2 slices of bacon?

Ive always wanted to try their cocktails, but there is no apparent bartender in there, or a bar, so I have shied away from it

Agreed. I went Saturday for the first time & told folks the same sentiment.

Half the damn burger is a cheap arse cheddar cheese. That really turns me off. They also don't cook to medium. The meat itself was tasty.

Also agree about the drinks. They don't even have a bartender yet they are trying their hand at difficult to make cocktails. They've got 2 teenagers working the front counter who are also responsible for making drinks. We sat at the bar and saw them make a couple and it was pretty atrocious so not surprised at the drinks. I actually place a higher importance on cocktails than most as I enjoy a good cocktail almost as much as I do good food.

With all that being said, I would go back in a pinch but if I'm in that area, I'll give my monies to high hat.

Or hire a competent bartender. Cowbell has the same shite. Their cocktails are some of the worst I've had in the entire city.
Steezy ordered an old fashioned at rendezvous at 2 in the morning last Saturday and I enjoyed that more than Cowbell's offering.

I can't agree with you. I've eaten there numerous times and have never had a dry bun or a sub par burger.

Single, no pickle, add fries, and a water is like $10. $13 if you add a shorty beer. Not bad, imo. I love me some Company Burger, but I'm a sucker for flat grill burgers. Growing up on Waffle House will do that to you.

Since you can't tell the difference between cheddar and American cheese, your opinion is suspect.

The cocktail was more to drink before the burger came out.

Regardless of what your schtick is, if you're going to over tomatoes, don't charge fifty cents on top of an already $8.50 burger.

The award for priciest add ons goes to Mondo. By the time I added cheese, bacon, it was a $17 burger. I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize this until I got the bill.

Re Cowbell, while I like some things there, I wasn't wowed by the burger. It was good, but not great.

Im with ya. Ive eaten there at least a dozen times, and it's always consistent. Even in the early days, they were way over charging for the side orders of fries and rings, and people complained, and they started giving bigger portions.

Sit there and watch and the methods are the same every time.

There are different kind of burgers, sizes, buns, meat, condiments, etc... Company may just not be for you. But i question anyone questioning the quality.
