One would assume that since kids are a huge expense, people would wait to have them until they are stable financially, but the exact opposite is true in America. Childlessness is rising among high end couples, while low income folks continue to have higher birth rates. This is troubling, for it means that the far majority of kids will be growing up in a home where government assistance is seen as normal, and will be less likely to learn finances from their parents.

Is there any policy the government can implement that can address this issue, which will bite us in the buttocks eventually?

Don't tie the money received to the number of offspring.

Incentivize getting a tubal or other form of sterilization procedure.

why does this exact same thread come up every month?

I think we could probably start with guaranteed contraceptive coverage in all health plans. Sorta like we get guaranteed air bags in all cars. We didn't used to. But its a good thing.

Of course, this will never happen because the Democrats want hordes of dependent leeches for voting purposes.

The only answer is condoms and birth control. Pretty simple.

I think it goes a lot deeper than that. I don't think these births are accidental.

they're not, the more kids a single mother has means more money in her pocket.

So you disagree with spidermanTUba when he says that the reason poor families have more kids is because the couple cannot afford birth control?

More kids = more free money from the gov't. Why WOULD they stop? They don't have to work either and also get a cell phone.

I do disagree, while more expensive for women, a man can walk into any health clinic and get plenty of birth control for free.
