That may be true in some places but it isn't universal. It also doesn't include the cost of a doctor visit. You know birth control is a prescription drug, right?

There are plenty of free clinics.

And walmart is everywhere and birth control is $9 at all walmarks.

Yeah, according to FOX News. They're all welfare queens! Its all part of their campaign to shame the poor. And the vast majority of the right wing - who hates the poor - buy it.

1. Mandatory sex education in public schools starting in junior high. Throw in nutrition, drugs, alcohol and other things so make it a mandatory health class.
2. Allow government benefits for only one out of wedlock child. Everybody has the potential to make a mistake and get knocked up but I expect you to learn from your mistake.
3. Set standards to achieve for mothers that receive gov benefits (i.e must maintain a 2.5 gpa and graduated from high school, must work a min of 20 hrs a week if part time student, 35hr a week if you are not a student, be full time student and maintain a 2.5 gpa and you only get 5 years to get a bachelors degree, etc).

My hardcore liberal friend had this idea.

I think we could probably start with guaranteed contraceptive coverage in all health plans. Sorta like we get guaranteed air bags in all cars. We didn't used to. But its a good thing.

Doesn't mean they'll actually use it. If I'm paying for it, they better be fricking using it.

Nope, he's trying to argue a point he (hopefully) knows is asinine.

Tuba, let me ask you a question... why are people poor generation after generation? They have programs to help them make something of themselves. We hear of success stories of poor children who study and get scholarships to college, albeit maybe 3 kids a year. Why aren't more kids putting in hard work to become successful?

I understand it would be hard as hell for someone from the ghetto to make it. They would have to work hard. It's doable though.

Here is a novel idea. If a woman can prove she has not had a child out of wedlock by the age of say 21, give her a check for 5,000 dollars. That's a lot of money to some people. Maybe even more money at higher ages. I know there are many holes in the idea, but think about it . It may just work.

For anyone whose only source of income is the government, I would have no problem with this. Honestly.

I just get tired of all the liberals spouting bullshite about these poor folks that can't get birth control. It's a complete crock of shite. It's there if they'll get it and use it. And yes, most are welfare queens abusing the system. At least here. I see this shite every day. Work with these people for a while. You'll see the vast majority have no desire whatsoever for anything except free money and to sit on their asses. The ones that want better, get better. At least those willing to lift a damn finger and not piss money away on drugs and dumb shite.

I think it goes a lot deeper than that. I don't think these births are accidental.

Exactly! One would have to be responsible enough to use the contraceptives.

I may be wrong but I find it highly suspect that a women would have another child just to receive another government paycheck.

BTW...how much does the government payout in welfare per child?
