I rarely use my bogas. Only when I want to weigh a 5+ lb trout or when I wade fish

Just looked up the bogas, damn those are pricey.

Honest question, why use these over a net and your hand when fishing in a boat? Is it just to weigh fish? I get using them in a kayak, wading or something else where space is at a premium.

I've been reading reviews and people really do seem to think the Boga is worth the money. I guess I'm going to break down and buy one. The Rapala also seemed to be well liked, fwiw.

I got them for the yak, and they work great there. A redfish jumping around can cause a lot of trouble in such a small space. With a fish grip, you own his arse. Since then, I have been bringing on the boat with me and they are pretty handy. I use it to hold a fish while I take out treble hooks. I even use it to sling trout in the ice box after I flick em on the deck. Better than getting covered in slime every time.

They are a lot of money, but come in pretty handy... and that hoist tho!

boga worth the $$ IMO. Mine doesn't get much use in the boat, except to weigh a fish, but it sure is nice when wading.

My hand. I measure my fish, not weigh them

Like someone mentioned, the Boga is different than most because it turns. This will save your wrist if you have a big fish and protect the fish as well. It's also great for a kayak because I don't bring a net and it keeps my hands away from the treble hooks etc. I just give it a nice freshwater rinse after I'm done with it, and it works just as smoothly as the day I bought it a couple years ago.

If I'm catching a boat load of specs, these work great. Just dip them in the water when they get slimy

I have a have dozen boga grips and honestly I typically use my hand and when I remember a fish towel. (I have the scars to prove it. I used to use those SS gloves sometimes too but cant find them anymore
