I know it has been a few hours since this World Cup has ended, but what are your thoughts on Germany's team going forward in the next major tournaments.

They seem to be a relatively young team with the exception of a few players; do you think they could possibly make a run like what Spain did in winning three consecutive tournaments in Euro 2008, WC 2010, and Euro 2012?

The players that are 27 or older from the World Cup Roster: (Not including Keepers)

Philipp Lahm (30)
Per Mertesacker (29)
Sami Khedira (27)
Bastian Schweinsteiger (29)
Lukas Podolski (29)
Miroslav Klose (36)

There are 3-4 starters in that group; though Khedira may have another World Cup in him as he will just have turned 31 before the next one.

Could Germany be the first country to defend their World Cup title since Brazil in 1962?

There is literally no point whatsoever to play the Euros.

Germany is running away with that.

This is an unbelievably young team for how accomplished they are. Schweinsteiger has been world class since he was 20, Lahm since he was 21. You could easily argue Podolski was better at 21 than at 29, although he is still fine.

Klose is the only big name who we won't see in France in 2 years. France will obviously have their own stars, plus home field advantage. And the Dutch will go for one last hurrah for their superstars, who will all be 32 then. It may be Cristiano Ronaldo's last shot at winning a trophy for Portugal, unfortunately. Same for Zlatan, if he can get in. And then there will be a whole new squad for Spain, with your Iscos and Alcantaras.

I don't expect much out of Italy or England though.

I can see them doing very well in 2016. 2018 is too far off to see how they and other teams will look like.

Of the six i expect Sami to still start and hope Schweinny makes the team as the grizzled vet. Who will be the next captain y'all think? Müller? Neuer?

They are always a thorn in Germany's side....imagine what Germanys trophy case would look like if they didnt bend over for them every time

Did everyone forget that Germany didn't even have Reus available for this tournament? He is a top 20 player in the world and is still very young. He gives an additional scoring threat upfront. Also, Gundogan is a young midfielder. I'm sure there are others but Germany is on another level for the foreseeable future.

Waaay too early to look that far ahead. Schweinsteiger is a very old 27. I don't know what he'll be like in 2 years. Lahm will play for as long as he wants.

There will be some news guys who will come through in the next couple of years. Julian Draxler, Mario Götze, Christoph Kramer, Erik Durm all should play more.

Will Lasogga be the next German striker or Volland? Will Goretzka be ready in a couple of years?

Maybe someone like Donis Avdijaj will break through in a couple of years, kid is supposed to be sick.

Germany is freaking stacked with young players that a lot of people will become familiar with in the coming years but, the most talented team doesn't alwasy win.

They probably need to bring in a new coach to usher in the new players.

Euro 2008
World Cup 2010
Euro 2012
World Cup 2014

That is a long run for a national team manager.

This is true BUTTTTT the Dutch also have the next golden generation coming through the U teams at the moment. I mean like 8 players from their 2013 U-21 Euro team made it on this World Cup team or would have had it not been for injury (Strootman, Van Ginkel). And 2009 and 2011 U-17 World Cup team is coming through at the moment too. Some players were on both teams (U-17 and U-21).

IMO they will make some huge noise and finally win a trophy in the next 12 years (Dark horse for Euro '16 and the '18 WC). All of these U team performers have at least one cap already.

Veltman, Bruno Martins Indi, De Vrig, Ola John, Adam Maher (gonna be a star), Memphis Dempay (next World Class Dutch winger), Kongolo, Rekik, Jetro Willems, Tonny Vilhena (this dude will be a superstar. Book it), Strootman (beast), Jordy Clasie, Giorginio Wijnaldum, Daley Blind, Van Ginkel, Van Rhijn, Leroy Fer. Van Aanholt.

My goodness. Every single one of those players are under 24. Like 70% are 22 and under.

The Dutch defense will be impossible to beat in the very near future.

You're right. I have no idea who I had him confused with..

I have little confidence that Löw will be shrewd enough in changing the guard. It's hard for an international coach to stay that long.
