Retirement - how long until you hang it up?

Approximately 262 more months for me.
That is at my current monthly savings level and estimating a 7% return...anything more than that is gravy....and I hope I can cut into those 262 months as I move up in the work world.
Having a plan is the most important part....the short term temptations are hard to ignore....but the plan makes me focus on me and not keeping up with the Jones.
Edit - I want to "retire" so I can work at the National Ability Center in Park City, Utah. Being there when kids smile as they snow ski is something pretty amazing.

About 456 months.
I'll probably work until I die, though. Sitting around just isn't really my thing.

The goal is 8-12 years.

Ideally, age 55 would be nice so about 360 months. Without getting married, age 50 or earlier is realistic but due to getting married I don't have a clue. I might work til I am dead.

About 30 years if all goes well (I'm 23), but I would like to have an LLC and do some consulting on the side once I do retire.

180 months for me. But I am pretty much with you, i don't see not working. we will probably take a mini retirement in about 5 years, travel a bit for a year or so, then return to work.
Also - if you are 30 years away from retirement, don't count just yet. it will kill you.

I'll cut back, but have no plans to fully retire. I enjoy the courtroom too much.

If I ever get to the point where I know when I'm going to "retire", I'll know I'm doing it wrong.

I'm 27.
Depending on market/taxes, 29-35 years.

Same here. The only way I could fully retire is if I had so much money I could just spend money all day doing activities while traveling the world.
If I just sat around watching TV because I couldn't entertain myself keeping a budget, I'd die from boredom.

i know several retired relatives this is mostly what they do. I would rather work than watch fox news all day, which is what they do. Yack.

I plan to retire when Charlize Theron decides to quit that acting thing she does and is ready to settle down. Still waiting but every day is one day closer.

I want to be ready to retire at 62 (~180 months) - at that point, I will have a 3 sources of residual, permanent income at, give or take $60k per annum as a floor.
I guess the remaining analysis will be how well my investments have done at that point, and how much of my house I can have paid off at that time.
I can find things to do in retirement, even working part time - but I want the option to walk away at 62 as a goal. I may work until I die - depending on what happens in the news few weeks.

You can watch MSNBC - with the size of their audience, you would make a statistically noticable addition.

Retiring isn't in my plans
It's all relative. I plan to retire from my current business and turn it over to my son and start a new business in a place where I want to spend most of my time. Right now my current business is in the place it needs to be in due to the type of business I own.
Do I ever see myself getting up and sitting in a chair all day being "retired"? No. That leads to a quick death. I plan to be active and involved for a long time.

17 years if things go according to plan.

27 years (age 55).
Just passed the age/time where I have less years of work in front of me than years I've been alive.
