I'm looking for a simple large stainless steel wok to cook stir fry in.

I found this Cuisinart one for $28 which looks like a good deal. I know they are the lower end of cookware but does that matter with a wok?

Non stick is out the question.

TIA

Buy one from the Wok Shop in San Francisco. https://wokshop.stores.yahoo.net/woks.html

I've had mine for 10 or so years and it's been great. Not sure if I bought the 14 or 16", but it's hand hammered carbon steel.

This. I've never paid more than $10 for a wok. The cheap ones work great.

This. I have the Iron Pow Wok from them with the metal handle and it works great. I've had mine about 7 years now and it just gets better(like a cast iron pot)

Just a note off caution, the wok is a tremendous cooking tool, but the real engine of stir fry it's the industrial level btu burners they use

Do yall have the round or flat bottomed one? I see if I would get the round I would need that stand to cook on my gas stove top. Also what oil do you season them with. I usually go with sesame for stir fry since it has a high smoke-point.

I have a round bottom one. My range came with wok ring that keeps it nice and low. They sell wok rings at the wok shop as well. They come in handy for storage on top the fridge. Round or nothing really. Just measured mine, it's 16 inches.

I use a round bottom. My range has a flipable grate that has a wok holder on the reverse.

As far as oils go, I use peanut and only use sesame at the end to dress (or as part of the final sauce once everything else is cooked)

In all seriousness, go the Asian grocery and buy a cheap one. Be sure the style of wok fits your stovetop i.e. dont get a round bottom unless you want it wobbling about while cooking.

the wok should come with a ring. That resolves any stability issues.
