Just walked out of dealership.

Asked for my DL, wouldnt give it to them.

He negotiates from MSRP, and gives me a rebate and takes some off. Goes and talks to his manager 3 times, comes back with the same price 3 times. 3rd time shows me the "invoice"....never gave him a counter to negotiate, just told him he needed to do better. He gave me the same price 3 times so I told him I appreciated his time, but he couldn't give a good enough deal. Told him I'd look at other brands.

I felt like kind of a dick, but claiming they couldn't do any better and coming back at me 3 times with the same price was rather insulting.

I'll keep y'all updated

Was looking at a VW Passat TDI.

I was at the Toyota Dealership and he called, but now I'm considering a Rav4 or the Camry Hybrid. They were both really nice, and I may want the room in the Rav and it still gets great gas mileage.

The Passat MSRP was 34,940 and they came in and offered $1000 rebate and $1000 off. So they came in at 32940 and showed me an "invoice" of 33 something.

So he called me back, but I was thinking I'd wait to call back Monday. I'm leaning toward the Rav at this point though. The salesman was really annoying with VW.

Toyota made a great engine in the Rav. That being said, get the car you want regardless of if he was a dick or not.

Im leaning toward the small SUV. Great gas mileage, but still a little roomier. I pretty much live out of my Tahoe now I'd like put the hanger rack in the back to hang up my clothes and stuff. And its cheaper than both the cars but still has leather everything and navigation.

Noooooo

Toyota took the 2GR-FE engine out the Rav 4. That thing could haul arse. It put out 270 hp and almost as much torque.

I drive 75 miles total every day for work. Horse power means nothing to me. MPG and an audio jack is the only thing that matters when I look for my new car in a couple years

I drive quite a bit. I'm not about horsepower either. Honestly I'd ever scoffed a year or two at the even the thought of a hybrid. But hell, you can't beat 40mpg

We'll it got 1-2 mpg less than the smaller engine, good trade off in my book.

I'm a car guy so I like something with both.

If you want gas milage go TDI.

But be careful not to pay to much for mpg, this chart is a good tool for figuring the cost.

What price would you have accepted for the Passat? Where did you get your number from? Just curious, I don't really know what an acceptable price would be.

Sadly, it will be useless for anyone who isn't able to figure it out using basic arithmetic since it counts on a price of $3.75/gallon.

Here's the formula:

Start with miles per year, divide by 12 to get miles per month.
Divide by miles per gallon to get gallons per month.
Multiply by price to get dollars per month.

Ok....but even your method can't rely on price stability.

The chart is a fine tool.... TOOL.... as it is

No one said it would predict the future. It's used to make a decision.

I can't/wouldn't buy a hybrid since all but about 4 of my miles are highway. Barely benefit from hwy miles and pay a premium

I drive a cadilac cya but my next car I am either going a used Eco engine ford fusion (good deal) or something like a KIA rio. I just don't give a shite about image of my car anymore
