Looking at getting one as secondary computer for light work, web surfing, travel etc. Thinking about going with Acer c720, but I also have my eye on the Asus devices coming out in another month.
Anyone have experience with Acer c720 or Chromebooks in general? Will the new ones be worth the wait?

I'm starting graduate school next month and was looking at a Chromebook or a new Dell desktop. May get both.
Anyone have a Chromebook? How do you like it?

My Dad has a 14" HP. He uses it strictly for surfing the Web and email. It's perfect for that but gotta get on the normal PC for certain tasks

If you need a full pc type experience then buy a Windows 8 tablet with a keyboard. If not, buy a nexus tablet instead. Chromebooks are as useless as netbooks were 3 years ago.

I use mine mostly for school but when I'm not in school it's usually on the coffee table or counter for anyone to do some quick netbook type stuff. Of course, it's not a full computer so you're limited but there are workarounds to get things done.
I have all of my office pc's and my home desktop setup for remote connections and I use 2X to get into them and do whatever I need a full pc for. I have a bluetooth mouse but you'd at least want a usb one if you plan on running a full desktop/laptop remotely.
The only feature I feel like I'm really missing is an ethernet port because I like to use the chromebook for network troubleshooting at the office but I got the Samsung for $173 with 1 day delivery from Amazon.

Chrome books are awesome. I Use it 90% of the time at home. If you're just surfing web you don't need anything else. I even usegoogle docs for personal spreadsheets.

I got an HP11 back before Christmas when my desktop crapped out and I needed a cheap computer to get me through the holidays. I love the thing. I still use it regularly for personal use. I had compared the C720 and HP11. I liked the form and screen on the HP. No fans, tiny, and decent battery life. The C720 is a little quicker with longer battery, but it feels cheap when you use it. Solid machine, though. Mine startes struggling when I get 8 or so tabs open and the sound will skip when I change tabs sometimes, but it handles video fine with only a couple tabs open.
