it will be on a solid brick wall that's 18 feet wide and covered by a good 15 feet

I was thinking 46-50

also whats a good wireless speaker I can put out there that's loud enough for a party?

Think bigger. My buddy put a 55" on a similar size wall and it looks tiny.

I have a 37 and that's all I needed. I may get a larger one if that one good out.

I put a 42" on my patio and I find it large enough.

My only advice is that if your TV will be under a roof, don't waste money on an outdoor TV. Many people have used an indoor TV outside with no problems.

I'm putting a 70" on my porch. I had a 70" Visio but had to leave it when I sold my house. So I'll get another or something like it. I'd get as big as will fit and as much as you want to spend. That way you can see it from all over the back area nice and clear.

Put the 52 in the guest bedroom, get a 70 for outside, and a 76-80 for inside depending how far you sit from it

Just bought a 46" inch LCD Samsung during Memorial Day sales for my patio. Looks good - good size. Patio (covered portion) is 17' by 16'

I have had 0 problems with my indoor TV outside. It is well covered by our porch. Had it out there for almost a year now and the terrible winter rain and storms didn't affect it.

Have any of you guys come up with creative ways to hide/cover it when not in use. Like building a locking wall mounted box...or do you just mount it on the wall and let it hangout there?

How far away will you be? Can you pee in the far corner of your yard and still see what's going on?

stay in the 40's. anything bigger is retarded. 30's can be a little on smaller side.

THey make covers for them if you want to protect hem more and not build a cabinet for them.

I dont think bigger is restarted. My 70 will be over the fireplace...my outdoor kitchen and island will be over 20' away...I still want to be able to clearly see the tv and not have to squint...so 70 it is

I'm in the process of adding a 30x 14 screened in patio with fireplace. The TV will be above the fireplace on the west 14 ft end. I'm hoping there's enough protection from the weather for the TV.

A 42 seems large enough, but I want to hear it 30 feet away on the east end with grills and BGE cooking.

I had EXACT situation.

50 INCH 50 INCH 50 INCH! see my 50" below and you'll realize you need this size at a minimum. i tested with 42' first (pic of that in the full article below) and wasn't satisified.

Here's my thread from last fall. In short

1. 50" "hinsense" no name walmart $299 LED TV
2. world's simplest tv mount - ikea $10
3. power & redmere HDMI cables
4. pain-in-the-arse brick removal with impact drill

The only thing I'll add is with chromecast, its now even EASIER to bring this tv outdoors to watch. Its literally a 3-5 minute total process and it lives in our bedroom the rest of time free from the elements

CAD's outdoor 50" TV

i'm happy to answer questions. my setup rocks.

Exactly...you think ohh 40something is good...and it may be inside when you sitting on your sofa right in front of it. Stick it on a big wall and start walking away from it...it gets small quick. That's why I say get the biggest that will fit that you can afford. Unless the area is just not real big and you would never be far from the tv.

As for hearing it my plan is to hook the audio into my line in on my sonos setup so I can use my outdoor speakers for sound.

yep, i thought i was going overboard getting the 50 but if you look at the pic above, you'll see its not that big when you see it in proportion to the deck.
