Staying at a B&B downtown Covington since Sunday. Very peaceful and quiet getaway from nola. Looking for a casual dinner rec. We did the chimes for lunch since I had never been. Beautiful property. She had the Crabcake sandwich (more like a seafood cake but really good) and I some chargrilled oyster which were surprisingly delicious along with 3 perfect pints-o-Guinness. We were thinking of going back for dinner but would like somewhere in downtown Covington to walk to. Any recs? Much appreciated. Happy Monday.

Monday is hard. Del Porto, Lola, Gallaghers are all closed I believe. If you're at the B & B's downtown, I would try Mac's on Boston(not sure if it is open either)or New Orleans Food and Spirits on Lee Lane. NOF&S is always reliable. There is also Yujin for Sushi(although I prefer Megumi). There is always the Tap Room on Columbia.

Had some beers at the tap room today. Nice space. Makes me want to come back on a Saturday for music. NO F&S is right around corner. Seems like a good casual place.

Sadly, not much is open for dinner on Mondays in downtown Covington. The only places within walking distance that are open on Monday are New Orleans Seafood & Spirits (Louisiana fare), Coffee Rani (salads and sandwiches), Buster's Place (oysters/fried seafood), and Yujin (sushi).

Busters place and no food and spirits. Decent beer selection?

They are pretty comparable - local and macro brews, mostly in bottles. Chimes is by far your best bet for beer selection. If you haven't done so yet, definitely walk over to Acquistapace's to stock up on beer and wine.

Went to that grocery store yesterday. Wow! Good thing it was a nice day or I would have been in there all evening. Currently sitting on the bank of the river with wine and reading "Beautiful Crescent: A History of New Orleans"

Which one are you staying at? I stayed at House of Dunn weekend before last. It was really nice. It was on Rutland, on the river.

House of Dunn too...haha. Nice place. Lady is super friendly. She's like "house is yours" and I really never saw her after that.

Lola,

I liked this place the time I went.

Plus, they have a decent little bar area now.

Yeah, she's really sweet. Did you find it on AirBnB? That's where I found it.

I saw flyers for that. I've seen Luther plenty of times at the establishment I manage. Good music!
