Kayak fishing around the Rigolets?

So the buddy that I go with suggested we start scouting some places closer to Mandeville. We both love Delacroix but he thinks we should have a place where we can take a quick impromptu trip. I've only been in that area in a boat, and to places that were much too far for a kayak. Is there an area accessible by kayak where we don't have to paddle too far to get to some decent red fishing?
Launching from either Rigolets marina or that little launch on the other side of the bridge near the fort? I've fished the marsh area between Chef Mentaur and Sawmill pass, but I've had only limited success and the area isn't that big, I'd like to have something with more options.
Without giving away any honey holes, can you give me some areas to try?
TIA

I went this weekend and came back empty handed. I launched at Rigolets marina and spent a few hours in the Geohegan canal and the adjoining marsh...The wind was brutal and the water was muddy, so there was no action.
I am also curious about this area. This was my first time out there and I really didn't have any clue as to what I was doing.

I do know that there is an area if you cross the rigolets bridge and take your first right and follow the road onto a dirt road running right back along the bridge, there is a beach over there to fish and you can also easily put a kayak in and park your truck. It's basically right under the bridge. Have caught some reds and flounder right there before.

There are several good spots to fish reds near the mouth of Pearl River where it hits the Rigolets. I used to fish that area exclusively for reds in my 16' flat, always with a gold spoon. I'd put in at Crawford Landing and run down the Pearl to where it hit the Rigolets by Lake Borgne. I'd catch them at the mouth of the West Pearl, in several little canals that run into the marsh, in a large pond area that you hit if you come out of the Pearl and shoot straight to the bank across the Rigolets, and several other hot spots within a few minutes of there. In particular, the pond area always held tailing reds, and always held them on the same bank. And I never saw another boat back there - water was too shallow for most. The mouth of the entry to that pond often held some trout too. Put a map in my hand and I could show you some spots. I can't fish any more due to back trouble, so I don't mind giving away my spots.

I've been wanting to try Marquez Canal. It connects Chef Pass to Lake St. Catherine. I'd be willing to team up if you want to learn the same area.

La France Marina is a good spot to put in over there. Great fishing in those bayous. Ansley is the closest town if you want to google map it.

Marquez canal is a good area. I fish it in my skiff, but you could easily put in off Chef with any sort of paddle-craft and do well back there.
the mouth of Marquez at Lake K can be a trout hotspot on a rising tide.

Thanks. I've been eyeing that area for a while since it's close to New Orleans.

The Double Bayou Lagoon off Geohagen is a good redfish hole. My buddy has a place there and watches from his deck. He waits till they're biting to paddle out there, so expect company on a good day.
