To the 4-team playoff this year. Running thru possible scenarios and was just wondering what others thought?

Of course there's a way

But I wouldn't waste a 10 dollars on those odds

10-2 with a SEC championship to make it 11-2?

It's a long shot, but it's certainly not unprecedented. We know better than anyone.

Unless every other conference champ has less than 10 wins, I say no way.

The playoff is going to hurt the SEC in the current 4 team format, but 10 wins and SEC title for 11, maybe?

This is the one I was on chewing too....if we were to somehow go 10-2 but win the SEC.....would/could they leave us out?

Here's hoping for some serious parity this year.

Regular season losses? Probably if LSU wins the SEC.

1)If they beat AL and AU. If they have 2 SEC losses, one of the losses probably has to be to FL. Who ever loses the AL-AU game would have to lose to someone else. Then they would make the SEC-CG and must win.

2)If they lose only one SEC game and beat AU and AL with the other loss to Wisconsin they will make the SEC-CG game and must win.

I think the great unknown here is the committee....I'm of the mind that this stupid committee is going to do whatever they can to leave the SEC out....They would be tickled pink if they could have the first one with no SEC teams.

Exactly....lots of penis envy out there for the SEC which only works against us in this format.

Isn't the number 15 this year?

12 regular season.
1 SECCG.
1 Semi
1 Final

?

As others said, I think SEC Champ would be a a guaranteed top4 spot, so 10-2 + 1 SECCG. 11-2. In, playing for the marbles.

Jeff Long, Arkansas' AD is the chairman of the committee. Between him, Archie and Condy, the SEC has plenty sway.

I think the playoff is the best chance for a 2 loss SEC team to make it (besides LSU's anomaly).

This isn't 2004 undefeated AU or 1 loss UF in 2006 that was almost left out for a OSU-UM rematch. Ugh.

SEC has proven it's dominance now. I wouldn't be surprised if one SEC team goes 13-0 and another 12-1 and the 12-1 team sneak in as well.

Depends on what everyone else does and who our losses and wins are against.

10 wins is most likely 2nd in the west, and 3rd in the SEC overall. I doubt they would have 3/4 teams from 1 conference.

Just from LSU's perspective, I think 2006 is a plausible scenario. Lose one game, don't make the SECCG, but top 3-4 team for sure. So you get the SEC Champ and another in the plus 4.

As it has been, I think the SECCG loser is the real loser usually, regardless of division.

In general, don't like this. Won't benefit LSU or the SEC. Maybe once it is going, I'll see it differently.

Those of you against the playoff are just scared of the unknown. Nothing to base it off of. This could very well give the sec even better chances at getting to the title game by putting 2 in the playoff.

Just wait it out and see. 5 years from now, then form a reasonably opinion on how it has worked out.
