10 best pizzas in Chicago

10. Jet's Pizza - Schaumberg's favorite deep dish. Not traditional deep dish, more of a four corners deep dish, but every bit as good. If Lou's isn't your taste, try.
9. Frato's Pizza - good thin, but even better Italian Beef. Best Italian Beef and pizza combo in town. Way out in Schaumberg, but if you're O'Haring it, give it a whirl.
8. Vito & Nick’s - hidden in the southern suburbs, Vito's and Nick's makes one of the best not NY style thin crust.
7. Dimo's - in a city famous for its namesake, the greatness of NY still pizza is evident in the number of great pizzerias that specialize in NY style. Dimo's is close to the top of those.
6. The Art of Pizza - when I'm in Lakeview and want some deep dish, but not in the mood for Pequod's, I get a pie at Art's. If you want traditional deep dish, after Lou's it's the best.
5. Piece Pizzeria - NYish style pizza. Not quite as floppy as true NY pizza, but it hits the spot when the deep dish gets tiresome.
4. Forno Rosso Pizzeria Napoletana - Chicago's best Neopolitan pizza. Tourists will clamor for Eately's, but Eately's pizza is overpriced, overcrowded, and not worth the effort. Forno's on the other hand is fantastico!
3. Jimmy's Pizza Cafe - over in Lincoln Square. If you want NY style, Jimmy's is probably Chicago's best.
2. Lou Malnati's - of all the famed pizza joints in Chicago popular with tourists, Lou's is the best of the bunch. First thing to remember when asking about Chicago deep dish is that if someone recommends Giordano's, Pizzano's, or especially Gino's East, stop listening to them right then and there. If they say Lou's keep listening. Better than the pizza is chopped salad.
1. Pequod's - some say it's not true deep dish, but rather, a pan pizza. I still say it's Chicago's best pizza.
Avoid at all costs:
Connie's
Gino's East

If you are in the northern burbs, JJ twiggs is the best!

Never heard of it. What are your credentials? Why should we listen to you?

Better question #1 = Who is he the alter to?
And more important question #2 = Who is he to question the opinion of the Great and Mighty Chicken?
#3 = What desert did he walk across to launch his attack?

No mention of Uno's in the top ten of Chitown?

Why did he get fired from Connie's?

Agreed. The pizza is very good. I think they are the ones that have the buttered cornmeal crust, which is fantastic. Lou Malnatis has this also, I believe. You may have to request it.
The only problem is when they are busy (which is often) they take your order when you are in line waiting. This is very tacky for a sit down restaurant. It does take 45 minutes or so to cook a deep dish pizza but this is still no excuse.
If you want something unusual, go to Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder. They make a pizza potpie. Sounds weird but it is great. Cash only.

How do you have a top ten pizzas in Chicago list without Uno or Giordanos? This has to be a joke.

Lou Malnattis butter crust is awesome, but no Giordanos? Come on, easily top 10.
To the poster about UNOs, it is fine, but not note worthy, many better family joints in the city.
For NY pizza there are a few places in Irving Park (rather north of the loop).

Oh and Gino's East is great GTFO with your list and go back to Gary.

It's fine but has never blown me away. Plenty of other great places.
But to each their own.

Methinks you've been tipping a couple two three too many from Binny's Beverage Depot.

Where are you watching me from?
I do stand by my comment however.
