When I make this I end up having to eat it for about a week straight because nobody else in my family will touch it.

I know some people eat this as a lenten dish, but I wouldn't want to make it without chicken and andoullie sausage.

This year I put mustard greens, turnip greens, cabbage, and parsley in it, then I went outside and found sorrel and poke shoots growing in my backyard and added those too.

Dafuq?

I've heard if it but I didn't think that anyone actually ate that.

I've never had the opportunity to have/make it. I imagine that it would go over just as well with my family as it does yours though.

I love it, however my attempts to make it have come up short. I have a friend who makes a fantastic version. However I don't believe that meat belongs in the dish.

i've never had it but i'd certainly eat it. i was just looking at a recipe for it in a louisiana cooking magazine we get, and thinking about giving it a shot.

i make donald link's smoked pulled pork, black-eyed peas, and collard green gumbo once a year. it is a huge hit with my family.

yep, new years day. that's ridiculously good.

gave up meat for lent one year and made gumbo z'herbs quite a few times. it's very good. I imagine it's even better with sausage

I've made it a number of times, but not with chicken. I've put shrimp and oysters in it on occasion. It's delicious. I love greens, though.

I love it, I know plenty of people who eat it. It freezes well, so next time you make it, put some up for later. The greens are already cooked into submission, so a little freeze/thaw action won't bother their texture at all.

I do like it with a little ham in it, though. A totally vegetarian version is more challenging to make super tasty.

I made a Gumbo z'herbes for Christmas this year. It's delicious even without the chicken/sausage. Everyone loved it

I will certainly be making it again... Can't beat it

I used a recipe from someone here but can't remember who... You may be able to look up the thread

Thanks again, Hungry

If I didn't mention it before, it turned out great
