Met chef, Aaron Sanchez (Chopped) at Borgne the other night before the Elton John concert.

Great guy, and hella interesting to talk to. Though during our entire conversation talking about cooking, he never let on who he was...and I actually had a brain fart and didn't realize it was him. He was probably happy to have an honest conversation about cooking, food, and local restaurants without someone wanting to talk to him just because of his celebrity.

He and John Besh are working on opening a taqueria type place. They are scoping out locations. They want something huge, like in a warehouse type place.

Do you wait tables there? Or Did you sit next to him at the bar or something?

I know this is too much to ask but please let there be a badass bar in there with tons of craft beer on tap.

I stopped in for tapas and drinks before the concert and was sitting at the bar. He was standing next to us. He started up a conversation with us about the food there, and then we ended up talking about food, restaurants, burgers, cooking, Big Green Eggs...and his opening of a restaurant with John Besh. We talked for about an hour. He told me he was in search of a good burger because he had Port of Call and wasn't that impressed. I told him to go to Boo Koo. He asked for my number to call me and let me know what he thought of the burger...though I think it had more to do with the low cut halter top I had on. LOL I knew he looked VERY familiar, but couldn't place it. Then shortly after we left, it hit me who he was. Made sense though, because while we were talking EVERYONE there knew him and kept coming up to him and shaking his hand. LOL

The bar is cool as far as atmosphere, but no, not a place for lots of craft beers on tap.

The happy hour tapas are a great deal. I especially liked the pimento cheese croquettes, as did Aaron.

Truer words have never been spoken! Just looking at my calendar wears people out.

Up this weekend...

Hogs for the Cause
Tour de Liqueur

EJ concert was fantastic. 3 straight hours, with no break, and he never lost momentum. And the $19 seats were great. No complaints!

Hell yeah I'll be at T-Bois! I'm honestly looking more forward to that this year than JF.

Next fest that I'm REALLY looking forward to is Phases of the Moon in Indiana. It's the inaugural year, so it shouldn't be too crazy crowded, and it's a great line up.

Widespread Panic
Bob Weir and Ratdog
Tedeschi Trucks Band
Gov't Mule
JJ Grey & Mofro
Leon Russel
Chris Robinson Brotherhood
Galactic
Anders Osborne
Dumpstaphunk
Donavon Frankenreiter
The Revivalists
Martin Sexton
and there's still one headliner that hasn't been released yet.

I think I met you once IRL. Did you have a tent at the Freret St Festival a couple of years ago? You would have been next to a tamale booth and you gave me some free food.

That would indeed be me, though I think the last one I did was in 2011.

You're full of it. I'm sure some time in the last 4 years I've given you some free samples. Last St. Paddy's?

Did he keep over annunciating, "Cilantro, and jalapeno"?

That's a cool story. That taqueria idea sounds like a no-brainer. Not much in terms of legit competition in NOLA.
