Babalu Tacos and Tapas is awesome! I have only been once but I will go every time I am in Jackson. North Jackson and less than a mile off of 55.

Babalu

The Islander on 1-55 North Frontage just north of Northside drive (ETA - Fish seafood and poboys). For burgers, sandwiches or a plate lunch just a little further up the same frontage road is The Cherokee Inn.

Of course there are a lot of other choices depending on what you want.

Guadalupe taqueria

Drove there from gonzales after the sportsman show....its that good.

Three taco combo, puerco, asada, and chorizo.

Try the stewed havenero sauce on a taco. Too hot by itself.

The Cherokee is right in that area.

Char is also a nice choice.

The Manship has the Friday lunch special of BBQ Shrimp and Grits that are awesome. Several other good suggestions in here too.

Plenty of good choices, thanks all. I've hit Char for lunch several times...all good. Just looking to change it up a bit. I'll check Babalu...trying to make sure I pick something my 78 year old mother will like...

you need to go bump my 'mecca' thread on the OT. people on there act like they don't know what mecca refers to.

eta amazing how people get their panties in a wad when i explained the glorious definition to them.

They usually have a special such as a red fish dish that is excellent if you think she'd like something like that. For you I'd rec the burger no doubt

If you go to Babalu, get the guacamole. It's made tableside and is great.

May do it, Boss. It's not far from a few of the other joints I've looked at and as good as Babalu looks Walker's will be more Mom's speed.
