What is a good place to get Sushi that also has other things on the menu? The wife loves sushi, but I am not too fond of it. Hence needing other things on the menu. We will want an eat in the place. TIA

What type of "other things" do you have in mind? There's pretty much no place in town that serves ONLY sushi.

You should try things like Yellowtail cheek/collar and some of the hot apps like crispy Wahoo salad.

You should at least give it a shot. Start with the California roll.

To answer your question, check out Kyoto on Prytania. They have a full menu outside of sushi and everything is great. Order the oriental salad for starters. They turn ordinary cold vegetables into heaven however they make that sauce.

I have tried different ones and I just didn't like them. I will try some, but I need other things available. This is more for my wife to enjoy. We do go to places I like more, so it is her turn. I think we will try Kyoto. I know we saw the place on Decatur the other evening when we were walking through the FQ.

If you're talking Sekisui, it's actually pretty good. It's not going to have as many non-sushi options as some of the other recommendations here, though. There's another place across the street down the block, that seems a bit more sketchy, but I haven't tried it.

I don't think my wife wants sketchy when it comes to Sushi, lol. We will try Kyoto and then the one on Decatur. We just enjoy walking around that area in the day/early evening.

It would be hard for a non-Sushi eater to not like the Black and Gold roll at Sushi Brothers.

I will try some stuff. You just never know. Now, with that said, if I try something y'all suggest and it is down right disgusting(Meaning y'all were tricking me to try the crappiest thing) I am coming back to this board to find you, lol.

Hoshun on St. Charles is a mixed sushi and Chinese place.

Haven't been in years, so I can't say much else about it.

None of it is disgusting. I'm just going to be honest here: you're kind of a puss if you think sushi is "yucky". Sack up.

I don't think it is yucky. I know it is to me, lol. Nothing to do with sack up. I have not found any type of sushi that I like. I would be willing to bet there are others who don't like it as well. I am not someone that says they don't like something just because. If I say I don't like it, it is because I have tried it. I am also open to trying things different ways.

Thanks for all the recs. My wife is laughing that I asked on here.
