Just deserts, perhaps, for a company that made the inexcusable decision to close down one of the consensus top 10 pizza locations in the city of New Orleans. (cite: LINK )

Top 10's a stretch.

I miss being able to grab a slice from there in Canal Place, though. It wasn't awful. Decent, basic, NY style pizza.

Plenty of fast-food places serve food that isn’t very good. But Taco Bell, Arby’s and Long John Silver, to cite three examples, have not found themselves at the doors of a bankruptcy court twice in the last three years, an honor Sbarro managed this week with a Chapter 11 filing.

That's the best thing after a long flight and a mini hangover.

Sbarro in Times Square may very well be the best pizza in the entire country

If you think about it makes sense. What is the #1 pizza city in the country? New York. What part of New York has the most foot traffic and people looking for a bite to eat? Times Square. And what's the most recognizable pizza brand in Times Square? Sbarro's. Taking those three factors together you can see why they'd honed by the fire, to use a pun. You couldn't survive in that location unless you were the best.

As for the guy who claims they're "not top 10," a poster whose opinion I usually respect said that Canal St. Sbarro's was "as good a facsimile of a NY style pizza as anyplace else in the state of Louisiana." Not the city mind you - the state.

Yeah, I'll stand by that with those caveats, sure.

It really is. I dare anyone to try to argue otherwise.

The one with the buffet? There was one a few blocks away that IMO was better

Here's a pretty brutal takedown of the place from 2011. I'm surprised it took them this long to go out of business.

By your reasoning, the McDonald's in Times Square has the best burger in the country.

Back in the day when pops would give me a 5 spot to go play NBA Jam at Tilt I would always find myself in quagmire because of Sbaros delicious smellin pies beckoning me from down the food court. Often times I would cave and leave Shawn Kemp and Gary Paton to the lesser skilled controls of some NBA Jam inferior and go lay my entire allotment down on the Sbarro counter. The inevitable twinges of regret would always follow my devoured slice of heaven when I realized that my peers had another 30-45 minutes of high flying video game bliss, but in retrospect I think I made the right decision. RIP Sbarro.
