Type? Cedar? Pine? Treated? Height?
All change the cost.

Let's say treated pine, stained with one single gate, one double gate and 6 foot.
I'll be doing the installation myself. Just looking for materials costs

Wood. Everything wood. Except hinges and handles. I think those should be metal.

In Mandeville, cedar is $15-17 per foot plus $500 or so for a gate
Eta- if you are doing pine yourself, probably $10 per foot plus gates. Treated pine was $4 per 6inch picket last I looked

Just material?

That was including labor. I didn't see where you said you would be doing it yourself

5 years ago it was $6-8.00 a foot. Haven't built any lately though.

Wood posts: 14 posts x $3.57 (cheapest wooden post 'rounded 4x4) = $51.00
350 pickets or so x $1.28 = $448
54 pressure treated 2x4 (39 for the rails, 15 for three gates) = $215
Gate hardware 3 x $25 = $75.00
Quikcrete 14 bags @ 2.67 = $37.38
Nails for pickets (you'll wanna use ring shank) $20??
Stain is about 1 gal covering 200ft sq, you got 1200 feet to cover, so about 6 gallons $35ish per gallon = $210
Should be between $1100-1200 total?
ETA - you'll likely want to double up (shorten the spacing on both sides of the gates to reduce gate sag, so maybe three more posts and concrete? Also will need some 3" nails for the rails to the posts.

That's what I'm talking about.
But it's 2 gates. And I have to figure in the price of an auger rental at about $100 for the day.

When you say double gate, is it one swinging gate that is double wide? Or two separate swinging gates separated in the middle?
Posted on 3/7/14 at 2:10 pm to LSUnivFan
Two separate swinging gates

Then you'd have one normal walk thru gate, and two separate swinging gates for the double wide? 3 gates, no? Anyway, I think matl' est is close regardless.
Best o' luck!

I presume you're in south LA somewhere Broke?

Also figure $15-$25 for a sprayer to apply the stain unless you have a clean old one laying around.

If doing it yourself i would recommend using torx screws rated for pressure treated lumber instead of those air nailers. If they just shoot it together expect boards to be coming off in a few years. Also make sure the fence posts are deep enough in the ground with plenty of cement.
