I assume your grass is still dormant. I don't do anything. I have no weeds growing in mine. I'm not a big fan of pre-emergent herbicides. If you have trees in your yard, it can possibly damage them. If you have a ton of weeds, a healthy lawn is the best way to get rid of them. Healthy St. Augustine will choke out weeds.

Keys are dethatch, fertilize, water, fertilizer, raise your blades, water, water, water.

THIS! Everyone I know scalps their yard and wants to know why they have so many weeds... the St. Aug will choke out those weeds if you let it get 3 or so inches tall.

Time for atrazine to knock down spurweed before it forms the dreaded stickers later on in the year.

Just sprayed to kill clover. I'm going to de-thatch in March and fertilize a few times after. Going to hire a lawn service after that. I'm tired of sweating my arse off

Thanks, I raised my blades an inch or two half way through the season last year and it really made a difference. I do have a lot of weeds right now though. I'll have to do some research on thatching. (this is only my second year having a lawn)

I will be doing the same this weekend, weather permitting. The yard at the new house is so full of dollarweed and clover that I am seriously considering nuking it all and starting fresh.

seems like a good place to ask this question:

Bought a house a couple months ago, yard has some holes and I want to take my truck to the dirt store... and have them load up the bed. Is there a specific type of dirt i should get? how much $ will that run me?

Looks like everything that I would have suggested has been mentioned, but I'll reiterate:
-Water
-Turfbuilder in mid-late spring and then again mid-summer
-Raise your blades can't be stressed enough, too many people lower them so damn far so they don't have to cut as often. But if you want a good healthy lawn, you should cut once a week.
-Healthy lawns are the best weed killers.

River Sand.

Not sure on price off-hand, but it is not expensive at all, will probably be priced by the yard.

First time using 24d this year for clover. I will never use anything else. I sprayed it after work and woke up to clovers wilting over in the yard

You're all crazy. As long as my yard isn't muddy, and my daughter doesn't get lost in the weeds, I'm good.

Is there any reason I shouldn't use some topsoil I have laying around to fill some holes?
