New place (chain) that just opened on Magazine. Mainly breakfast, but sandwiches too. Anyone been yet?

I frequent the one in lafayette. Great brunch, and an even better Bloody Mary.

Wasn't there something about the BR location being a separate outfit from the others? There was a thread on that a few years ago, I believe, and maybe the owner posted?

The current Broken Egg in BR isn't the previous franchise owners .. the originals opened the one on George O'Neal, then the one on Old Hammond at the same time .. They didn't have enough money to keep two open, so they blamed the southeast BR economy and walked out on their George O'Neal lease .. then, about a year later, they lost their franchise rights altogether and had to sell the other location too .. I think they have since razed that location .. the new one, on Corporate Blvd., are totally different people ..

There's one opening in Lakeview next week, as well.

The one in Old Mandeville is separate...the other locations are franchise or corporate owned, I'm pretty sure.

with all the badass breakfast spots in NOLA, another broken egg is the last place I would go…I imagine it will be extremely overpriced too

I went to the friends and family opening. Not bad. Large portions for breakfast, decent bloody mary, service was ok. Good location and they are just about to open the second one on Harrison in Lakeview. The people running this group of restaurants have been around some very successful NOLA restaurants. Lots of Ruth's and/or Brennan's resume's in the management/ownership team. I think it will do very well.

Went for lunch at the Magazine location a week ago. Nothing special but since I can walk from my office I will go every now and then.

The old one in BR failed because they changed the name to la Lou but kept the La lagniappe recipes and got sued. Stupid.

I'm a fan of the new one in BR (liked the old one too). I usually get the traditional day breakfast and I've never been disappointed. The potatoes are right up my alley. The steak is good too. It's nothing special though. Just a solid breakfast diner.

Been to the mandeville location many many times all with great dining experiences. Went once to the old Hammond location and food/dining experience was not good at all. Not surprising they closed that location.

We enjoy the Shreveport location on occasion. I don't find it as overpriced as everyone else thinks though. It is about $5 more than a place like Strawns or Southfield Grill (typical diners) for a breakfast for me and the wife. I don't find that unreasonable. I like their omelettes.

My one gripe would be them serving those tiny frozen potatoes as a side. Those things piss me off, but I just substitute with cheese grits usually.
