Steel disc targets for sale $6

These are byproducts and waste that have value “as is” to a second, unrelated industry as they describe it.

Just emailed the guy and got one of the 1/2" discs. They are 13 3/4" diameter. Just thought I'd share.

Do you think these are hard enough to withstand pistol rounds over a long duration? Do they list the hardness?

I dont know but the guy said they shoot .308 and .223 with not much dimpling. He said they shoot .50 cal at 7/8 and doesnt penetrate.

He shipped it with an invoice and said it would be around $7-8. So i shouldnt be billed for more than $13-14

Hey Rattle, check out Shootsteel.com for mounts and bases. You can use those plates with these.
If not you could probably weld some on your own with the same design in mind.

Not to derail the thread...but I've often wondered what the risk of ricochet is when shooting at steel plates.
Is there any appreciable ricochet risk?

FMJ bullets just turn into a little disk of lead and fall to the ground. That's why the steel needs to be hardened. Soft steel will dimple and ricochets happen. This looks like soft steel, I would be careful at short distance pistol ranges.

As long as the plate is able to physically move, the chance of ricochet is pretty much nil.
I have shot steel from very close and have caught shrapnel exactly 0 times. And I have been shooting steel for about 2-3 years. There are guys at steel challenges that have shot steel their whole lives and have never been touched.
A target like this is riskier since the target is unable to transfer any of the kinetic energy into the plate.
But with the stuff from shootsteel.com and Action Target, the plates are either able to move, or are angled down to send the bullet into the ground at the target.

Sorry for the bump but I got a reply back from the supplier about the hardness for anyone interested. I asked him the hardness last week because I told him I had concerns with ricochet.

I know that they are hardened but I don't know what the specs on them are. My boys and I shoot them with handgun loads at about 15 yards without any discernable damage to the disc. I wish we could see what the target looked like. From my understanding, the target was connected to a spring of sorts and the ricochet basically trampolined off the target.
Although I don't shoot 50BMG at my targets, I've never had anything close to this happen.
