After I expressed my concerns I think he wanted to cover himself.

But he did say they shoot pistols at 15 yds with no issues. Im going to drill two holes at 10 and 2 and hang in the trees with a backstop at 150 yards.

Hmmm...now that I've gone back and read...my question wasn't so off topic at all. Looks like it was a good question to ask..thanks for the responses too...Glad I could stimulate some thinking too.

deep bump. I drilled out the disc with 5/16" bit and hung with .080 weedeater string. works for now.

ETA: I have failed the OB. updated with required foot in pic. please accept my apologies for no foot action on previous pic...

Btw it cost about $30 for the disc with shipping

your backstop is suspect.

I've gotten hit multiple times by shards at Precision, in one trip. It was my second and last time going. I honestly could live with getting hit by bullets but it's the employees that ruin it.

Not sure I follow, sammich. I plan to shoot this at 150 yds at an elevated position.

Might want to use the black bungee cords, that weed wackier line will last one shot unless you are shooting a 22lr.

I plan on my shot not being off by 12"

We shall see. However the supplier advised they shoot these with .30-06, .308, .223, etc.
thanks for the concern. I will pop at 150 yds and report back.

Yeah, you need something that's going to give. That weed eater line is going to pop with the impact of the first hit.

We use the rubber bungee cords at Honey Island for our gongs at the 100yd mark.

wish they would move to chains but then I guess bungee is cheaper

I have a rail road tie plate that I will test out next time I go out shooting. Mixed reviews but overall at a distance, they are ok

Ah you got me. I wasnt thinking it would move much because of the weight.

It was more of a joke to hang by weedeater line than literal application. I was bored last night and started drilling.

Eventually I will sure use bungees.

Then the wooden posts we use would break.

The Col. wouldn't like that...

we use a different (armor) type metal at H.I. The Col. looked at these but said they wouldn't hold up to the abuse(#Rds.) we put on em'

Bercheen steel brhind spillway sportsman sells scraps.

They have a huge amount of round blanks for cheap.

Thry also have thick thick steel plate for cheap as well.

A .308 fmj will dimple 1inch standard steel a half inch.

.223 fmj will punch right through half inch without slowing up. Mosin nagant will do the same.

.308 can ricochet off of suspended 1 inch at close rsnge. Caught a piece of shrapnel with my butt cheek doing a test.

If your target is angled rearward at the bottom, ricochets go into the ground anyways.
