Ranters need to remember what Johnny Jones started with, not much. I’m still looking forward to what’s ahead. All of this stuff about Johnny Jones not knowing how to coach, blah, blah, blah, is premature and more so, immature.

hard to be a good coach when your two senior 5'8 guards consistently drive into traffic with their head down. I mean, whatchya gunna do?

I'll say it again.

No excuse for being down 19 to an 8-10 team.

He's not playing about half of "his" players.

It's easy to say that, but his team shot 30% in the first half, and committed nine of their 14 turnovers of the game in the first as well.

To say this last year would have been fine. This year, not so much. He came into this season with an All-conf forward. A guy who was 900 pt scorer. An All-SEC defensive team guard. And a top-10 recruiting class. Smart basketball people were projecting this group as a NCAAT team. Yet, right now they are on pace for a .500 finish in a bad SEC. No one is saying that LSU should fire the guy, but he shouldn't be above criticism either.

Johnny needs to increase the passion on the bench. He did do this in the 2nd half (along with the press adjustment) and the team seemed to respond. I was happy to see that. If your team is playing lazy on D and the coaches aren't saying much on the sidelines, you're leaving it up to the players to coach themselves. Some teams need a little more vocal coaching.

Silly. Most hopefuls had this team with an NCAA bid preseason. 97/100 others had it as a bubble team with potential.

This wasn't some preseason top 30 team.

That said, I was on the hopeful side, and am disappointed that it hasn't come together.

Im with you man

Everyone needs to just calm down a bit. Yea the lose hurts and sucks. But people were overhyping this team since the summer. Why? Because we finally got some big time recruits. Mickey is our best player and solid. But people were way more excited about Martin. And hes had his ups and downs this year and is trying to get comfortable out there.

So everyone was excited about this year and hyping it up because of our youngsters. Sure they were big recruits coming out of high school, but they still are youngsters. And Martin has "underachieved" to peoples standards coming out of high school. He will grow and get better the more he plays.

Our vets are JOB, Hickey, and Stringer. 2 of them are PGs that are about 5'10 and streaky shooters. JOB is a down low guy, but disappears during games. He has big time issues with double teams in the short corner. Gets out of control and makes a bad pass.

Everyone needs to just take a step back and think of the big picture. This is the 1st time in a while where we have legit talent on the team, but most of them are young freshman still acclimating to the college game. And i expect them all to be back next year. This year isnt a sweet 16 or bust type of year. People that think that or thought that were overhyping this team. We have some good young talent, but there are a lot of teams that have just as good or better talent than we do.

I expect us to be vastly improved by the time the SEC tourney comes around.

They were 40 in AP and 43 in coaches. How many at-large bids in the tournament again?

LSU has some very good players. They are not a good "team". That's the difference with elite coaching. CJJ can recruit. Time will tell if he can develop into an elite coach.

And who are these very good players??

All freshman except JOB. And he disappears in games way too much.

Hell, besides Mickey and JOB im not even sure who else i would classify as a "very good player". Martin has the skill to become a great player, but right now hes not.

We have young players that could possibly turn into good players. But right now, we dont have that many good players. Especially when it comes to scoring. Martin is our best player. But hes not a guy that you can just give him the ball and clear out and let him go to work. His impact is felt on the defensive side more so than the offensive side.

I agree. LSU has a good team, but I think a lot of LSU fans expect too much from some of these players.
