I am currently in the market for a mudmotor. I would like the complete package with a 1754 hull with center console, remote steering and reverse. Looking for some insight.

Thanks!

Just curious, but why doesn't Mud Buddy/Gator Trax get more love on here? I don't know much about mud boats/motors, but my hunting partner has a MB/GTX combo and it seems like a really good setup to me.

Mud Buddy customer service is notorious for sucking. From what I have heard from MB owners, the Boat Doctor is the best way to get service and parts. Not to mention the Sport V/H was a horrific fail.

I like Prodrive's SBX boat. I've seen plenty of stories of people swamping their boat when running up on the bank. I like the idea of a boat that can float and correct itself. I like the instant reverse of the Gator Tail motor though.

Take your pick really. It basically comes down to the reverse. Instant on the GT is pretty cool, but the full power on the PD is the shite when you're in a tough bind.

eta: we went with the GT because its mainly a fishing boat and the convenience of the instant reverse met our needs better

Prodrive all day after driving several of the top brands it is the best! Drives like a tiller handle outboard, and the reverse is nice. Hunted out of one this season their boat and motors are great

Yep. After the season, I'm going to go test some out. I've been trending towards pro-drive though. Full power reverse is the sell point for me.

I have a stock Prodrive 1860CC, and love having the full power reverse. This year I hunted a stiff north wind that blew all of the water out the marsh which left me high and dry. I would not have gotten out with another motor. The Prodrive lifts the back of the boat when in reverse. There is a slight inconvenience having to plan your movements before you do them without on demand reverse, but it has never been a problem.

With two grown men, a child, and loaded down with all duck hunting gear (boat blind, 12 gallons of fuel, two batteries, etc.) we were running about 18 mph in deep water, and about 22 in the shallows.

Yes, right now I have a 16 foot kirk hull mud boat with a Subaru. With regards to maneuverability and power in reverse, you can't beat the mudboat, but I'm not in the game for going in hard to hunt locations anymore, it's all about comfort for me, now! Also, I just can't haul enough ppl or equipment in the mudboat or fish comfortably.

Mud buddy is bad arse but much more $$$ than the competition. They recently came with a 44-52 hp gear driven vertical shaft motor that is pretty damn close to look and function as a true outboard but with a starting price of $9k .... sport v 44
