What are some of the best point transfer options?

I have about 200K points between my two chase cards (business and personal) and I am looking into vacations in either Europe or possibly Virgin Islands.

The only time I transferred points in the past is to Southwest, which is roughly a .016 ratio opposed to using the points through chase for only .01. Which other point transfer vendors offer a great ratio like this when it is time to purchase a flight/hotel/ect?

United, Krisflyer, Korean should be able to get to 2 cents per point or higher depending on what you get ie you'll push to 4 cents territory getting business class.

I haven't looked at Hyatt recently but the math is fairly straightforward

I was looking on SlickDeals and ran across a thread on Discover Price Protection. People have been using it successfully on Black Friday deals the past few years.

I plan on taking advantage of this. This would be a good oppourunity to grab probably the most popular Black Friday deal which seems to be this 50" Panasonic LED TV from Best Buy for $200

SlickDeals Thread

Discover WILL be price matching Black Friday prices including door busters. Same procedure as always holds:
1) purchase the product now (make sure model number is identical)(bf ad must have model #)
2) after BF, call up Discover at 1-800-638-8312 (direct number for the price protection department) to file a claim
3) They will mail you paperwork. Fill out the form and send it back along with your receipt + ad/sales receipt showing the BF price.
4) Get a price match check in a few weeks.

Great opportunity to take advantage of Discover's online bonuses (5% quarterly + ShopDiscover). I did this last year with the 50" LED Toshiba TV Sears was selling for $299 on BF. Purchased it for 749 on Amazon a few weeks before (with the 5% online bonus), filed a claim, received a $450 check in the mail about 6 weeks later. Zero time camping in line.

Nice find. Hell I'd buy it if I had a Discover card. Two TVs on the patio? At that price? Sure...

Just cancelled my Chase Sapphire Preferred with annual fee hitting. No retention offer. $17k spend. Little MS and mostly food/drink. Lost my 7% dividend. Oh well.

Any reason you didn't just downgrade to the no annual fee version? Then, later on, when you have a better Chase card you like you can simply transfer that credit limit to another?

My guess is he wants to restart his 2 year clock for the bonus. After 2 years he can reapply for the Preferred and get their signup bonus again. Since he has the business card, he still has his transfer options open.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. 2x points on Dining with the regular card probably isn't worth keeping for 2 years and instead might as well just get the bonus again...Yup, I'd probably only earn about 20,000 points every two years on dining.

I don't believe I needed to. I've had the Freedom since 2007 I think. I wanted to open another Chase slot.

I've got plenty credit line open with Chase. I just did an AppOrama. I have 2 business products(SW Plus/United Explorer) & 3 personal(Freedom/SW Premier/IHG Priority Club). I share and pay the AF on my wife's Ink Plus(So I can transfer UR points) and would like to keep options open for another personal card if a good deal becomes available some time later next year.

Plus, Chase is churnable every 24 months, so I don't see a need to keep a Chase slot filled with anything other than the Freedom once the AF comes due. I keep my wife's Ink Plus because it pays all of our bills and I don't feel like hassling her to change all that information out and it has been a very rewarding product.

What he said.

It really isn't. Even if you spend mega bucks on dining, it would probably still be a better move to move to another card for a year(United Biz 2x, Chase Freedom qtly 5x, Arrival plus), and reapply for the CSP at year 2.

ETA: You just don't get to throw the metal down anymore .

Ya, I'll probably cancel once I get my honeymoon points. Its helping me get to 320,000 points and then I'll probably get rid of it. I need all the help I can get to get there as soon as possible. But let's be honest, the 5x Staples is really whats pulling the weight around here right now.

BTW, flying out tomorrow on my Avios booked flight to Miami. $5. Gonna get weird. They gave me precheck lane for some reason. I'll take it.

Haven't thrown down the metal for 6 months now. Its depressing. I feel like a commoner.

I did a credit score pull right before I did the apporama. So, at month end I'll have a data point for 4 credit pulls, 4 new lines, closing 1 line. Score was right at 800. For those interested in how it affects your score.

American Express Gold biz 75k
Barclays US Air 40k
SW Plus Personal 50k
SW Premier biz 50k(Meant to get the plus, so cost me an extra $30 ).

Probably most excited about my SW companion pass for 2 years.

I never have my set up right to do this. Too many damn weddings I don't want to pay for. I'm going to try to stretch out my current Southwest bonus I'm working on and see if I can wiggle another SW in early 2015 so I earn then. I've read people getting two personals. Maybe it will work.

Nice haul though.

shite . 320k? That's pretty good. Getting close to booking time, right? I've seen Singapore Suites has pretty good availability a year out on the LAX-NRT-SIN route 92.5k points. Aren't y'all doing Kuala Lumpur?

It's a shame MIA and FLL are like 10 miles over the 4,500 point mark.
