Franklin Barbecue is glorious. Get there early and wait in line.
I'll second Curra's. We went there a couple of months ago when we were in Austin. I got the Hungry Ranchero.
And it isn't barbecue or Mexican, but the Whip In is the tits. It's a Texas take on Indian food with a huge beer and wine selection. We ate there two nights in a row and it was excellent. Try the South Asian Frito Pie or the goat sliders. LINK /

Cool place but food is sub-par.

Curra's is awesome.

J. Mueller is the best place to go for good BBQ and not have to wait 2 hours in line (Franklin).

My wife wants to know why there's not a place like that in Baton Rouge. I told her there probably isn't a place like that in the hip areas of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Miami, you name it...

It is unique. And it grew organically from a typical convenience store.....the son moved back to help the aging parents. He had been living in Berkley, Ca and was a craft beer geek. So he slowly turned it into what it is now.

I live between Whip In and Curras which is nice. But my favorite Mexican in town is Polvol's.

The fish fajitas at Polvo's are amazing. They have one of the only margaritas I like, too.
