Obamacare "Signups" now up to 1.1 Million

Remember, "Signups" are counted by someone putting a plan in their cart, not necessarily purchasing.

Btw, take a look at who the quote in this comes from. I'd like to know the percentage of people who are getting free coverage as opposed to actually paying

quote:

A last-minute surge took the number of online sign-ups for President Barack Obama’s signature health coverage to 1.1 million, federal officials said early Sunday.

“December enrollment so far is over 7 times that of October and November,” Marilyn Tavenner, head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, said in a blog post ahead of Tuesday night’s original deadline for applications.

Of the total number enrolled for so-called ‘Obamacare’, nearly one million signed up in December alone, compared to only 27,000 in October when the website’s launched was beset by technical glitches.

The windfall comes at a critical moment for Obama's sweeping health care law, which becomes "real" for many Americans on Jan. 1 when coverage through the exchanges and key patient protections kick in, The Associated Press reported.

The White House last week signaled an extension for sign-ups in light of the last-minute surge and earlier site errors, although it has yet to specify details.

“We are eager to assist millions more Americans gain the health security offered by the Affordable Care Act in the weeks and months ahead,” Tavenner added.

Wednesday will bring a fresh test for Obama’s flagship policy as hundreds of thousands of Americans will begin to use the program's new medical coverage for the first time, Reuters reported.

Obama's unemployment numbers can't be trusted, why should these be?

Well these numbers are only about 4 times less than what the schedule they had called for.

How many btw are the "Young, healthy people" the plan requires?

Thats why I highlighted who the bragging about being way over Oct/Nov enrollments was coming from. It was coming from someone who runs free healthcare programs. So one can assume that a vast majority of these people who are signing up are on the govt dole and not the young and healthy.

That is the question the press should be asking, (if we still had journalist around).

If this number is loaded with the already sick then it will be a very expensive bunch to care for.

With this group? Not a fricking chance....

But the "Goal" was that they needed 7m signups by April 1st in order to make it deficit neutral. Now those people needed to be the healthy ones, in order to counter the sick ones costs.

So if you look at it realistically, I'd say 200k or so of the 1.1m "signups" are healthy people that have paid. But don't worry, they will get there!!!

The program is such a failure so far and the numbers have been abysmal...therefore, when you get something that is slightly less than abysmal (but in the grand scheme still fricking horrible overall) you get to rush to write sunshine pumping articles like this

7x super shitty is still really shirty. No one is buying this. Congrats on the "surge"

why would so many be putting plans in their cart and not actually purchasing? (stopped keeping up with this fiasco.) is the website still preventing it, or is that the first time they actually show the premiums/deductibles?

You can't delete coverage in your cart. So no chance all those sign ups will actually pay for coverage.

To get pricing and see if it is "affordable" to them. Hell, a number of posters here have gone on and put plans in their carts to see how it compared to their current plans. Most have said it was more expensive. Subsequently, they cannot delete them out of their carts....

Why do I sense a lie of immense proportion being handed out just days before the new year and implementation of the system in the real world of doctors, nurses, and hospitals dealing with patients.

Of the 1.1 million signups, how many are family members versus individuals? What are the ages of the signups? How many of the signups have enrolled?

All of this information should be as easy to compile as the number of signups since it is part of the same database. Any reluctance to disclose the information is for purposes of obfuscation. And claims the information is unavailable are lies.

Yup... fricking incredible

If this was a publicly traded organization, the govt would be going after them for non-disclosures and the likes.

Oddly enough....

I read an article this morning where several Democrat lawmakers (most of whom supported this abortion) are calling for Target, UPS, and FedEx to be audited, fined, etc due to the issues they faced over the holidays. They are demanding refunds, free services, etc. They want more govt control "to protect the consumer". They want to bring in C-level execs and grill them.

I have to wonder, as a member of the 51% that pays federal income taxes, will I be getting any "protection" or "refunds" for the constant failures they produce after they rob me and my family of over 35+% (and counting) of our income?

I am beyond detesting these people.

However, there are concerns as to whether the program will work as advertised on January 1, Reuters reported - with some insurance industry executives expressing fear that some people who need medical care during the first days of 2014 will head to the doctor, only to find there is no record of their new insurance.

Since this story is on obama's NBC spin service, you can rest assured that the doctor will probably NOT find a record of the new insurance. The lesson here is that if you have the new obama insurance, you better call your doctor and have them check before you schedule the appt.

so you have to put the product in your cart, an action you can't undo which apparently counts as a purchase, before getting an extremely important piece of info on the product?

man that is some bull shite. and how is it they're just allowed to not release real info on the performance of these exchanges in any detail at all?
