It's been years since I've been and a big group wants to go there for a birthday. I remember it being alright chain Italian food. Any idea if it's changed a lot. Good/fast service, etc?

This is fairly accurate. I don't ever remember hating anything.

Good/fast service

My issue wasn't necessarily the "service" per say, but the atmosphere. For some really odd reason, Jones and I went twice in like a 1-2 week period about a year ago (odd because I hadn't been in a few years before that). Without going into too much detail, we didn't have much luck with atmosphere/people we sat by. Kids running around, loud rude ghetto people treating servers like crap, etc.

A place that advertises free "second helpings" is going to have that, I suppose :/

If it's a place that is already decided and you're just asking about it, you'll be fine. It's not so bad you need to opt out or act rude about it It's just not a place I'd choose to dine on my own.

I've recently enjoyed the calamari, and also the pasta pescatore.

The Mrs.'s and I ate there the other night(we had a gift card). We had one of their seasonal appetizers which as woodfired mushrooms stuffed with Italian sauasge, cheese, and artichoke hearts. I had the steak marasala. It was cooked just as I requested. Really was good. She had chicken. Tasted really good as well. This was my second time going and both times I really enjoyed. The service was excellent both times.

I went for the first time about a month ago. Kept it simple with chicken parm, caesar salad... I enjoyed it. It's definitely a few steps above Olive Garden, if that's what you're thinking.

I'd say it's many steps above Olive Garden.

With the exception of Fleming's, I'd rank it as the best chain restaurant in BR.

Just an FYI you can use their gift cards at Fleming's. I was excited to learn that after winning one.

I'd say it's several floors above Olive Garden.

haven't been in 3 or 4 years, but the few times I've been I've thought it was pretty damn good for a chain. kinda discouraging to hear about the "free second helping" though. given the clientele this brings, that might turn the place into a Cheddars

I enjoy the chicken trio which is chicken bryan, marsala and one another one I cannot remember. Food is always pretty good but the one in Shreveport can be extremely slow sometimes.

I love me some Carrabbas. I've only been to the one on Kirby in Houston and it's been a good 3 years since my last visit.

I agree. My parents love it so I end up eating there a couple of times a year. I had a server tell me one time that the filet served with the Filet Marsala is the same cut of meat sold at Flemings for twice the price. I order that everytime I go and its freaking delicious. It can't be beat for a meal around $20 or so.
