I'm visiting a friend and staying in lake view. Im from louisiana but have only eaten in NOLA a handful of times and I know y'all like criteria so here we go:

-I'd like to stay around lakeview but friend wants to go uptown(I know that's no help)
-we ate at JI's last time
-no oriental food/sushi
-nothing that will break the bank, I'm not looking for the best steak or disk, just looking for a decent restaurant that won't leave me broke

Thanks guys

The best thing in Lakeview is probably Mondo. I live in Lakeview and while its getting better, there isn't a lot to choose from. Mondo, Steak Knife, Brisbi's, Blue Crab.

Uptown has many many many many places that fit that criteria. Kind of hard to narrow it down.

Maybe go to Ancora on Freret Street, get some bad arse neapolitan style pizza and craft beer, and then walk over to Publiq House or Cure for drinks.

Maybe.

This may complicate things but if not lakeview then maybe something around the Roosevelt( I'm not sure if that's uptown or not but we may go there first to see the lights and maybe get a drink)

if you stay in Lakeview then Mondo is a non-brainer

Not certain what JI's is.

El Gato Negro is decent in Lakeview.

Go to Domenica....it's at the Roosevelt, and it's well worth a visit. You can eat as high or low as you'd like, as the menu ranges from $15 pizzas to pricier entrees. The duck pizza w/sweet potatoes is excellent, but most everything on the menu is delicious. LINK /

If you want cheaper & cheerful, grab a sandwich at Merchant, which is around the corner on Common. But Merchant closes at 5:30, so you'd have to eat early. LINK /

For budget, go to Cleo's Mediterranean, which is open 24/7: LINK

Domenica is in the Roosevelt (which is downtown, not uptown). Really good food, happy hour is 3-6 and is half off pizza and beer. Even if you get there after 6, the food isn't really that expensive.

I've been wanting to try that place but it was pretty sketchy when I went in and I thought the prices were pretty high given the "atmosphere"

Mondo is solid.

I've been wanting to try Cleo's too. I'll let someone else be the guinea pig and report back.

Great suggestions, appreciate it

Going to probably do domenica.

Where would y'all suggest parking and do you think a reservation is necessary?

Go to Domenica. It won't hurt to call for a reservation.

Don't know where to park. I just let them park my car at the Roosevelt usually. They didn't charge me last time, but I think there's a charge normally. You could call and ask.

A reservation is highly recommended at Domenica. Very popular place.

Go Uptown to Brigtsen's for the $48 Reveillon dinner. It is outstanding, especially the duck entrée and the sweet potato bread pudding.
