Saw this on the news last night. The family seems really broken up about it. Wonder what the story is. Coleman refused to comment.

Can't possibly imagine these people to have done anything that would tick off the landlord. I'm sure it'll turn into a damn car wash or something like that.

2 more months to get that roast beef po-boy...really sad.

For real. From what I remember on the newscast last night the family has operated out of that building forever. They can obliviously take their menu and staff to another space but 100 years, that's history man.

No, Wait, please, don't go.

Don't go......

Sad story, I have a feeling they were falling behind on rent.

I doubt Coleman needs the pocket change.

I would be interested to learn about the initial transfer of ownership in 1984.

It's a damn shame. The place is the real deal...no fakery, just honest, a lived-in piece of history. Don't the Colemans have enough money? I feel a rant coming on....

Damn, I ate there by myself on the 3rd of July before I got on a place. Heard the whole story from the lady and her daughter.

What an a-hole. That place is a gem.

The Colemans own the whole IMTT tank farm property adjacent to the Tavern. St. Rose isn't exactly a hotbed of economic development (aside from the Bunge grain expansion). It's a community landmark, and a quaint throwback to pre-chain, pre-standardized times. Does Coleman want to turn it into a Rivershack-style spot? 'Cause St. Rose isn't exactly a prime spot for after work yups to hang out while they pretend to soak up local culture.

Seriously bummed about this one. If the landowner doesn't want the place, offer to sell to the present operators--they'd jump at a chance to buy. Another branch of the family owned the land and sold it out from under the operators.

The St. Rose community is small and close. They just have to tell Coleman they'll boycott anything he puts there. Money talks.

Hijack: My first real job was at an IMTT tank farm in Avondale. Summer after my senior year in high school, I had to be in Avondale every morning at 5:45 to clock in and worked til 3 cleaning tanks, cutting grass, insulating pipelines, and all other awesome tasks in the oppressive summer heat.

There used to be an awesome po boy market near Avondale shipyards that sold a 12 inch roast beef, tall boy, and pack of cigarettes for like 8 bucks. That was the best part of that job.

Blackened, why don't you find out the real story behind the eviction? Sounds like you have some IMTT connexions. I just don't understand it. Those ladies/that family is an institution. Why toss 'em out after all these years?
