In the nation.

We're 4th in the sec in both categories.

Scoring offense #14 (3rd in sec)

Our passing offense is actually 3rd in the sec.

Passing yards allowed. #20 (3rd in sec)

Just sayin. I hope positive things are still allowed.

Good stats, but we still lost to Ole Piss

The 2008 defense was ranked decently as well. It makes you wonder just how bad the poorly ranked defenses are.

LSU's defense is very bad. Being #24 doesn't change that. It doesn't rank situational defense such as 3rd and longs.

Thanks -- so as bad as we suck... (sarcastic comment) we apparently are ahead of most of the SEC and 80% of all FBS teams at this point in the season.

For those the say -- but we played Furman and Kent State....

YES, we did -- and Alabama has played Ga Southern and had SEC games against UK and Tennessee -- both of whom SUCK.

We played UGA when they were at their best and we had a really "off" night at Ole Miss --- yet we are still 4th overall on O and D in the SEC.

A bit surprising, actually -- but statistically it's pretty solid, I suppose.

I'd rather have won at UGA and Ole Miss -- but we played our butts off at UGA and came up short. We screwed the pooch at Ole Miss and let that very winnable game get away from us.

We have 3 more chances this season --- I hope we focus on each game and play our best game each week and win them all.

Biggest problem with the defense, it's 3rd down conversion ranking is 56th. The defense allows almost 4 of 10 conversion attempts and when you look at some of the crappy teams on the schedule thus far, it's pretty telling.

I think we can still win out if they give their best effort.

For how good Alabama is playing, they won't have faced anyone as physical and hungry/pissed. They will have much needed rest, and everyone will be healthy.

It will be a TALL order, but I like miles after bye weeks more so then Saban. I think our guys will play over their heads while bama will be business as usual. (Which is enough to beat us sure).

I'm keeping the faith.

A little surprising. Figured it would be much worse.

I wish chavis wouldn't play 15 yards off the receivers

If we beat bama. Does it completely rid you of the bad taste in your mouth?

I think it would for me.

3rd down conversions late in the game have cost LSU both games this year.

Just looked up 4th down conversions. LSU is pretty bad defensively, allowing 8 of 16.

We were 32nd in 2008 because we absolutely dominated our non conference opponents. In SEC play we were 10th(11 in ypp). We gave up 100 more yards per game in SEC play that year. We're giving up 180 more yards a game in SEC play this year.

The biggest difference this year is that most other SEC teams have bad defenses. We're actually middle of the pack or towards the top in most defensive categories.

The last 4 LSU losses have been almost EXACTLY the same. Starting with bama last year.

the stats are lying.

259 vs TCU(108)
296 vs UAB(96)
190 vs Kent ST(61)
437 vs Auburn(11)
494 vs UGA(46)
468 vs Moo ST(56)
240 vs UF(114)
522 vs Ole Miss(25)
198 vs Furman

played 3 top 50 offenses and we gave up 1500 yards, and if you included Moo ST almost 2000 yards. Defense gave up two game winning drives in the games we lost.

We should still be near the bottom of the entire nation in TFL.

Yep. The only tie the game wasn't in the balance until the very end was UF last year. The 4 losses since have all had game winning drives late in the 4th.

I remember a Chad Jones sack late in the game a few years ago preventing an Alabama comeback. I miss that aggressiveness.

Good shite. I think that was his freshman year and it was at Bama.
