Yeti...to buy or not to buy.

I've been looking at buying a Yeti for some time now, I can buy from a company I do business with cheaper then anywhere Ive seen (Y65 for $300). My question is, are they worth the money.

They're heavy as shite so I hope you don't plan on carrying it long distances

Depends on how you personally use coolers.

For what they do they are great. For me, I'd be worried about leaving it in the boat at the dock or even under the camp. Nothing has been stolen before, but why tempt fate. They also take up a LOT of room for very little cooling area.

I find those 5 day coolers to work quite well but don't see why a man shouldn't have a Yeti should he choose to get one.

No doubt they're great at maintaining ice, but unless you're on a trip where ice is fairly inaccessible I personally don't think they're worth the price.

I've never had a problem keeping ice and cooling fish using my inexpensive coolers. If I had Sherpas hauling perishables up a mountain or something, I would invest in getting a cooler with more insulation.

I have one but haven't used it enough to say whether its worth the money or not yet.

Spend $100 on two Coleman Xtremes and you'll thank me
They don't come with a cool sticker as far as I know

Got 2 Y65's in my boat... One stays in the front and is used as fish box. It's the same height as the boat deck and fits perfectly in that spot. Love it cause it's tough and heavy, I can stand on it while fishing... The other one goes under my leaning post for food/drinks, that one I could do without. Just heavy and overpriced for that use. Went fishing Tues with my son and left it home. If you're buying one for regular use (ballpark, etc), meh! Get something light and cheaper.

If it stays in a boat or motor home then fine. But if you plan on moving it in and out of a truck or trailer then you're an idiot. Weighs as much empty as a Coleman extreme does half full. Also you have to worry about it being stolen.

I have a yeti and proud to own it. Here is where it comes in very handy:
1.) when I go fishing out of fort Morgan and destin - I can haul food and beer down there...load my fish back up no problem.
2.) when I go inshore fishing out of LA - use it to haul beer down there and my filets back up to NELA.
3.) duck season - I use the hell out of it - but I duck hunt more than the average joe
4.) deer lease - really too small to put my quartered deer in there - but great when I go to the lease for multiple days.
It is heavy but it takes abuse well. Riding on the back of a ranger or in the back if my truck - it will last for years.
It is nice to have but by no means a necessity. If you deer hunt, get one big enough to put a quartered deer in there.

Don't forget they come with a cool sticker.

They make cool hats too.
I ordered 57 last year for my pipeline spreads with our company logo. Pipeliners are ate up with Yeti's, especially welders. I kept one for myself and it does a solid job keeping $1 bags of ice from melting.

Yeti 65. Best size for 1 person to handle. Durable enough that I shouldn't have to buy another unless it gets stolen.
