I won't one to shoot varmits and shite with in town and plink. I've seen the whispers and all that shite. Anyone got any experience or seen a test comparing decibels?

Don't have one yet, but I have my eye on the Benjamin Trail Nitro XP. Comes bundled with the scope, very quiet, solid wood stock with a shoulder strap. Check out the videos on You Tube. It is impressive. Should run $200-250.

I have a whisper and can't stand it. It's quite, but not that quiet. .22 shorts out of a lever action are money and not much louder than a pellet gun

Get one that shoots BELOW the speed of sound - roughly 1100 fps. Breaking the sound barrier is loud. I've also read that it affects accuracy in pellets.

not sure about the whisper version from gamo, but a CZ 452 ultra lux .22 with a 28inch barrel and shooting subsonics is VERY quiet, plus your shooting a heavier projectile.

I have a gamo whisper pellet gun thats supposed to be quiet, my .22 with subsonic quiet rounds, is much more silent. I use the pellet gun for legal reasons, since I am shooting in my neighborhood

I have one, and have shot subsonic rounds through it. Really aren't much quieter than shooting regular rounds. Definitely not as quiet as a pellet gun unless you put a homemade silencer on the end of the barrel, and then they are as loud as me cracking my knuckles

As said earlier, going transonic and supersonic is loud. get a subsonic 22 cal air rifle. the blistering 177s are as loud as standard velocity 22 rimfires

Yep. Mine shoots 1200 fps and is louder than the 22 with CB caps.

this. I use my lever action .22 with shorts (cb caps) and find it much quieter than my Benjamin. No one even knows I'm shooting unless they see me walking across the yard.
