In laws traveling to Boston in a few days. They are looking for a few can't miss places. Maybe one night of fine dining but not picky otherwise. Money is not a huge issue as they appreciate the overall experience. Any of you guys have any recommendations?

The Union Oyster House is a fine choice for chowder (the best we found) and its raw bar is great. Very casual, historic atmosphere.

I would try Artu in the north end and Reno's place. Both are excellent.

You want to go where everybody knows your name.
Actually tell them to have low expectations if visiting cheers.

If you like Italian Have the cab drop you off on Hanover St., just pick a place, Bracco was our last stop, very good.

For a can't miss spot, go to Bricco in the North End.

Sorry for the hijack:
I just booked a trip to take my dad to the yanks/sox series in September. Any recommendations on what part of the city to stay in?

I've heard great things about Neptune Oyster but I didn't get to try it yet.

There are plenty of nice hotels. Check TripAdvisor. We stayed at the AMES and it was very modern and very nice. However I don't think my dad would like it so you may want to look elsewhere.
