Mint.com users/Capital One Account holders (update I received from Mint).....

Capital One Bank has decided recently to prevent 3rd party vendors from accessing your account. For now, they are only allowing Quicken and Quickbooks access to customer accounts.

This is throwing a big arse monkey wrench into my monthly budgeting and expense tracking. I loved mint b/c it was very easy to use. Hell, I track every damn expense coming to my house with Mint. I tried using Quicken and I hated it. It was not user friendly at all.

I don't know how in the hell I will manage without being able to track my transactions from my bank.

I do not have any words of advice as far as keeping your budget updates automated. I still stay true to keeping all of my budget information logged on an excel spreadsheet that I created. I do use the budgeting tools that several banks are starting to offer through their web interface. Yet I only use their budgeting tools to make life easier on me whenever I review my data to confirm it is all correct.

Cancel Capital One card.. Transfer balance and let them know why. They will change their tune once enough people do this.

Problem isn't just with a credit card. I have serveral accounts with Capital One and all of them are blocked. It makes me want to switch every last one of them to someone else. This is so damn frustrating.

Weird. Mint.com says it will be able to connect again to Cap One on July 19th.

Damn it. That sucks. I also use Mint to track just about everything, and recently taught my wife how to use it, and she actually follows it.

My CapOne 360 and Sharebuilder (by CapitalOne) both have no problems connecting. They may be implementing a similar security as SB and 360, where you have to get an account access code for 3rd party sites. I thought that was great. Ensured if Mint was hacked, all they has was the "read-only" version of your account info (that's my understanding of it).

Was a long-time customer of a bank in DC. That bank was bought by Capital One about 4 years ago.

First Capital One lowered interest rates on all of my savings/checking accounts. Then, when I called with a complaint, they took a message and didn't call me back. Then, they closed my branch (where I had my safety deposit box). Oh, and every time I went into the bank, I felt like it had become a car dealership ("Sir, can I ask you: might it be beneficial to you to talk to a financial analyst on our staff?" "Sir, I see your paying a mortgage, might you be interested in refinancing?" "Sir, do you need any help with retirement planning?")

I am no longer a Capital One customer, and very happy for it.

She just didn't clarify, they aren't allowing any 3rd party to access until July 19th due to completing a merger with another bank. Supposedly after Friday all will be well.

Well, Intuit owns Mint, so it shouldn't be far behind.
