136 beers on tap is impressive .. Problem is, maintaining that is expensive .. So guess what .. It's reflected in the beer prices .. Kitchen is ridiculously slow .. $8.00 bowl of gumbo was smaller than a lot of cups of gumbo in BR .. Basically rice and McCormick's gravy with a hint of meat .. Bring plenty of money or your AMEX Black .. Nice interior with lots of TVs, but i wouldn't go planning on a nice meal .. Beer prices make the Londoner seem cheap .. Just my .02 ..

My thoughts as well. $13 for a tiny glass of Blantons is stupid. Ive got a better american whiskey collection in my liquor cabinet... They need to rethink the whole whiskey bar thing

13.50 for a 12 oz Unibroue in a bottle? frick yourself.

Glad to see that beer appreciation is finally making its way to BR. Only about 20 years behind Chicago.

Beer appreciation isn't just now reaching BR.

Don't be silly

I'd argue that beer appreciation is probably bigger in BR than it is in NOLA

NOLA is a cocktail town

There is a reason why the 2 Chimes locations in BR essentially just print money. And it's not because of the food.

I can only think of a handful of beer bars in the NOLA area. Actually the only one that rivals the chimes IMO is Avenue Pub.

I got a huge LOL out of the fact they kind of brag about not having any domestic beers, yet they have PBR among their collection of 136 ..

Sorry guys. I know that there are a few of us who do really get the craft beer thing. I see it here daily. What I Meant was that Goose Island that I was enjoying in Chicago a couple of decades ago for instance, is just now making its way here. When I moved here a while back, I was elated to find Unibrau for instance, but I was shocked as to the lack of decent brew. The beer scene is getting much better. Sorry to offend.

Hipsters like craft beer but some of their friends can't afford it

Thus the necessity of PBR. It allows them to maintain their hipster status without having to open up their wallet.

Ave Pub is probably greater than all the beer bars in BR combined

Rivals? Avenue Pub is vastly superior to chimes as a beer bar.

I haven't done any item for item comparisons, but it definitely seems more expensive compared to other places that have craft beer.

LOL!!

You ruined all credibility in this thread.

Not beer bars by name, but there are a lot of bars with good beers on tap in N.O. Tons of places don't just stick to the boring BMC stuff on tap.

I've only been once, but I liked it. I don't go to a craft beer and whiskey bar for the food, though. It's expensive, but so is BD.

There has definitely been a significant number of big name craft breweries expand or announce expansion into the state (not just BR) over the past year or so.

I am basically comparing it to the Bulldog and the Londoner .. It's more expensive than both ..
