I bet the Celtics ratings go up now that they've got a pulse in their series. That's pretty big gap though.

the majority of Celtic fans are the same guys you used see in south LA wearing BoSox hats

they'll ride that bandwagon until Pierce and Garnett retire

Boston's always been a great hockey town. Remember, the railings in Boston Garden were all Bruins yellow, not Celtics green. Hockey was the "working man's sport" and Boston is nothing if not a blue collar city. Or was, until the Douchebag Invasion. We call those people Celtic fans.

They also probably have girlfriends who have pink Red Sox jerseys.

Its a Red Sox town that happens to be good in other sports too. Consider that 2 are playoff numbers compared to a midseason baseball game that they won 10-1.

i was fortunate enough to catch a Bruins ECF game 6 in the Beantown Pub while up there for business 2 years ago

Sadly, the bruins lost that game but won the series and eventually the stanley cup.

But i learned that yes, Boston is a hockey town. Without doubt.

Ive never been in a bar that was so intensly watching a Hockey match. It was an incredible experience. I reccomend others try it, even if you dont like hockey

I wonder how it compares to a Canadian city. Anyone from Boston know a good bar or place to watch a Bruins game?

My brother-in-law grew up there and he's mentioned the same thing. I hear the crowd gets pretty rowdy. I'd love to catch a Bruins game.

I hate the Bruins more than any other hockey team, but they have some pretty great fans. You should see a game in Boston if you ever have the chance. Original Six city.

Baseball town, IMO. Red Sox were in a blowout in a somewhat meaningless early season road game. The others are in the playoffs.

Boston as a rule has a shite ton of Acadians/Cajuns/French Canadians; Kerouac is a perfect example of an Acadian family name from Brittany in France-after the expulsions many French Canadians went to Mass. to make a living...I believe it is why hockey took root there...the litle boy killed in the Boston Marathon bombing for example is Acadian background...

Boston is a Red Sox city first and foremost at this point. In general, it is a pretty intense pro sports city across the board (no one cares one bit about college sports). I'd say it goes:

Red Sox > Bruins > Celtics > Patriots

Although there are die hard Patriots fans, they are a lot harder to gauge because they don't play in the city. They city is pretty intense whenever the others have big games; riding the T is pretty cool whenever those are scheduled.

Watch an NBA playoff game and an NHL playoff game and tell me which is more entertaining. I'll go with hockey most of the time.

This.

The Sox game was put on a NESN auxiliary station last night to make room for the Bruins. (The station has broadcast rights to both teams - when both play the same night, Red Sox usually get main NESN channel when Bruins are in regular season. In playoffs, Bruins get preference.)

Current hierarchy is 1. Red Sox 2. tie Bruins and Patriots 4 . Celtics. Years ago the 2nd place tie was between the Celts and Bruins, with Pats in 4th. That changed in late 90's.

Fans and media talk Red Sox and Patriots 12 months a year - Bruins and Celts in-season only.

Red Sox town only. Other 3 sports aren't even noticed if those teams aren't playoff material.
