Kevin Durant always seems to be mentioned as the second best player in the NBA, while Carmelo Anthony barely cracks the top 10 in many lists. I'm curious to what the MSB's opinions are regarding the positives and negatives of Durant over Anthony.

Durant may be a better shooter, but to me, Anthony has been the best, most complete scorer in the league for several years. Yet he gets denigrated in some way because he is primarily seen as a "scorer," while Durant is somehow perceived as a better overall player. Perhaps it has something to do with their reputations, but I can't be sure. What say you, MSB?

well durant shot .510 this year and .496 last year. Melo's career high is .492 and that was in 07-08. So they aren't really close there.

Durant is a better 3 point shooter. Durant is a better rebounder. Durant blocks more shots, durant steals the ball more. Durant gets more assists, and Durant usually scores more points

He also had another great scorer in Allen Iverson to mitigate some of the bad shots he was forced to take because no one else was able to create their own shot. Durant has always had other options in OKC in Harden and Westbrook.

Stupid lists then. He certainly is top 10 although Durant is easy number 2

Much more efficient than Mello, and a more willing passer.

1) Durant IS a more complete player and Carmelo is just a scorer.
2) Carmelo won the scoring title by 0.6 PPG while taking 4.5 more shots per game and a worse percentage.

Carmelo is very talented, but Durant is miles better than him.

durant is simply more efficient. i also believe he brings a better team vibe to the table. i dont have a way to quantify that opinion, but believe its true.

im not a melo guy. i would take 15-20 guys over carmelo if i were starting a franchise

Melo is a great player, but he doesn't compare to KD. The only thing Melo has on KD his scoring on the block and more debatably, "clutchness."

Melo offensive game is beautiful to watch. the way he creates separation between himself and the defender is amazing. I look at it this way. Melo can score facing up, back to the basket, and off the dribble. KD can't do all those things as well as Melo.

And to say Durant is miles ahead of Anthony is just plain silly.

Melo is definitely the better clutch scorer. That's about the only reason why I would take him over Durant.

Durant is the second best player in the NBA, Melo isn't top 5.

the other top 3 2-way players following Durant: Wade, Marc Gasol, Chris Paul.

he is

i don't know if melo does anything better than durant, and durant actually (1) plays defense and (2) distributes the ball efficiently

KD is the only player in NBA history to be in the 40-50-90 (180) club AND have a scoring title

KD had a 3+ PER advantage (24.83 v. 28.35) over melo

if you want to see the VAST difference in the 2 players, just look at their TS% and ppg

TS%:

KD: 64.7
CA: 56.0

PPG:

KD: 28.1
CA: 56.0

Stats are overrated and don't tell the while story. Also I assumed we we're comparing scoring ability too scoring ability.

I'm on phone, but where do most of KDs shoot attempts come from on the court?

durant is still better by a pretty big margin

i don't know

melo loves the worst shot in basketball though. it kills his TS% because he won't play smarter on offense

i'll give him credit in that he is taking fewer long 2s and more 3s, but he still is a complete retard who shoots way too many long 2s.
